This brings me to the question of what I've done to deserve the rewards of luxury and a successful lifestyle. Now how would you think I'll answer that? Check it out below.

Well, over the years, my parents have taught me the golden rule of never giving up and always persevering through rough waters. This I've taken to heart and throughout my career in the engineering field as well as my alter ego as a blogger, I've never given up even when the going gets tough.

As an engineer, I'll make it a point to work smart, to solve problems effectively and most importantly, to never make enemies! You never know, the trainee you bully today, may well become your BOSS in the future! I've personally seen this happening before.

Jumping over to my alter ego as a blogger, which I've just begun picking up since last year, I make it a point to stick to the golden rule of never giving up as well. Also, being friendly plays the key role in fostering great friendships with fellow bloggers, and this is a fact! I treat all my blogger friends as my close friends, and vice versa, I can feel very good vibes from them as well!

Okay, so coming back to the event of the year, Johnnie Walker has also partnered with VMM because they both share the values of innovation, winning and leadership. Check out this extremely cool video below.

Johnnie Walker has a cool and inspirational campaign with the Black Circuit Lounge that allows you to experience the lifestyle of Formula One. Check out these 2 great drivers below, Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton.

A parting note: Always remember, Never Drink And Drive!

Venetian Carnival Masks

What do you know about these Venetian Carnival Masks, if you're not sure of what it is, welcome to the club! Until now, I'm really not well versed with these masks, and decided to do a little digging up on it from the web. One search from Google got me a pages upon pages of these beautiful elaborately decorated masks which sort of reminded me of Opera shows, and also those wild masked parties.

Hop Movie Premiere Screening

Candies, candies and more candies! The Easter Bunny is here, and I was privileged enough to catch the movie screening of Hop courtesy of Nuffnang. Thanks to Eli, who passed me her tickets I was at E Curve to catch the premiere.

Hop Movie @ Cathay Cinema E Curve

As usual before any Nuffnang's premiere screenings, I'll try my best to catch some bloggers to have dinner, this time at Kim Gary's Restaurant. About 12 of us were there having a wonderful dinner before proceeding to collect the tickets at 8.30pm. The movie started at 9.30pm.

Something unusual happened while collecting our tickets. 2 very formal man and woman in black with suitcases were distributing some weird fliers to Nuffnang bloggers. It was interesting how they behave, like some secret agent of sorts. The fliers that they gave out were rather confusing and these guys did not talk at all.The fliers were supposed to be some secret document, which everyone could not make head or tails of. I was actually more interested in how the man looked like. He reminded me of Edison! Check them out below.

Mr Edison Lookalike

Lady in Black

Anyway, coming back to the movie, starring Russel Brand (E.B), and James Marsden (Fred O'Hare), it was about the older Easter Bunny's son, E.B who was supposed to succeed him but instead went chasing for his dream in Hollywood. That's where E.B met up with Fred, and all types of hilarious scenes ensued. Overall I find this movie really entertaining and really made the whole audience laugh at the antics of all the characters. I especially liked the Easter Chicks!

Of course, a movie screening wouldn't be complete without a group picture of the bloggers that took part. Below would be a group photo for the album!

A Cooler Room With Panasonic

Okay, I'm pretty sure most of you have an aircond somewhere in the house, probably a couple of air conds. As for me, getting an air conditioning unit for the first time is a really big step. Not life changing, but definately a more comfortable change.

Since young, I did not have the pleasure to enjoy an air conditioned room. Recently the hot weather had been really getting to me, so I decided to splurge on an air conditioner for my room. The model that I went for? It was a Panasonic 1.5HP CS-S13MKH unit.

My new room fixture

This particular Panasonic model comes with an inverter which is said to be able to save the electricity costs by at least 40% compared to a standard air cond. I'll explain on the inverter portion in a while further down. A quick check from the manual and online specs educated me on some of the cool functions integrated in the aircond.

Inverter Deluxe
* Intelligent Inverter
* 5 Star Energy Rating Product
* ADVANCED+PLUS e-ion Air Purifying System with Patrol Sensor
* Mild Dry Cooling
* Btu/h 12,500 (3,140 -14,300)

Patrol sensor, a sensor for air health check

More information on the inverter part. Inverter air conditioner units have been introduced not too long ago. The concept is fairly simple, a standard aircond without inverter runs on an "On-max speed" and "Off" stage to reach your set temperature. Meaning when its too cold, the aircond will switch "Off" and only "On" back when it drops below the threshold, controlled by a thermostat.

In an inverter air cond however, it continues running, but is able to regulate its speed, meaning when a threshold is reached, it runs at a slower speed, thus consuming less energy. It does not run at full energy levels all the time. This new technology translates to energy savings. Of course, my explanation may be too basic, for more info do check out wikipedia on this link below.

One of the functions

As for me, I'm just glad that I won't have to suffer hot weather during the afternoons any more. This addition to my room set me back RM1.8k (1.6 for the unit with compressor, and 0.2 for installation charges), pretty pricey because of the inverter and higher horsepower at 1.5HP. My next plan will be to install at least 1 of these babies at my parents' house. It will make their home so much more comfortable.

Of Satay, Hokkien Noodles, Mille Crepes Cakes and Food Foundry

Thanks to Kian Fai for organizing a short get together over dinner, a few of us gathered at SS14 PJ to have dinner at this coffeeshop serving Hokkien Noodles, before going off to have this wonderful Mille Crepe Cakes at Food Foundry.

I reached the coffee shop slight late to see 5 of my blogger friends already seated at the table, namely Carmen, Tony, Shiok Leng, Kian Fai, and Elwyn. Upon 10 minutes after ordering, food was served. Check out below what we had for dinner that night. Be reminded this was before the heavenly Mille Crepe Cakes eating session.

Popiah - RM1.70 / roll
Wa Tan Hor
Hokkien Char / Noodles
Chicken Satay - Rm 0.60/stick

It was a good dinner, but the best was yet to come. At around 8pm, we adjourned to our next "Makan" destination which was the Food Foundry. Food Foundry is actually located at Section 17, on the ground floor of this apartment Happy Mansion to be exact.
Food Foundry

Numerous blog posts have been made about this place and its famous Mille Crepes Cakes. A quick check on Wikipedia gave me the defination of Mille Crepes as below.

A crêpe is a type of very thin pancake. Mille crêpe is a French cake made of many crêpe layers. "Mille" ("mil") means "a thousand", implying the many layers of crêpe.

The Menu
Cute Decor of the place

We ordered 4 different type of flavored Mille Crepes, namely Mango, Strawberry, Chocolate and Vanilla Crepe. The prices for this place weren't exactly cheap, akin to Starbucks pricing, which to me is a bit overpriced due to the fact Food Foundry is located in a housing area. Anyway, that's just me, probably the price is justified by the unique Mille Crepes they offer.

Strawberry Mille Crepe Cake - RM 9
Vanilla Mille Crepe Cake - RM 9
Chocolate Mille Crepe Cake - RM 9

Kudos to Food Foundry for making such a delicious cake. The cake itself was really moist and we could actually taste the different layers. I tried counting the layers but lost count after 10 or so layers. No wonder people still come back for more each day. Food Foundry do serve other dishes such as pasta, and the normal western offerings.

Overall it was good fun, and I really enjoyed having fun talking with these great folks. We had a great time just chatting and sharing knowledge, all over drinks and mille crepe cakes. Priceless I tell you.

Jogoya Japanese Restaurant Dinner Buffet

Jogoya Japanese Buffet, I've heard of this place from my colleagues over the years, but I've never had the opportunity to enjoy the cuisines there until last week when my bosses treated us to a dinner buffet. Upon hearing we're going to have a complimentary japanese buffet dinner at Jogoya, I was like "yeah baby!"

I Love 5S!

If you're in any manufacturing company or factory, or any company for that matter, I'm sure you would have heard of the term 5S before. 5S workplace organization methodology to be exact. For the uninitiated, well here's a quick definition of 5S as defined by Mr Wikipedia.

5S is the name of a workplace organization methodology that uses a list of five Japanese words which are seiri, seiton, seiso, seiketsu and shitsuke. Transliterated or translated into English, they all start with the letter "S".

My new locker Sticker!

In a nutshell, below I'll explain what every "S" stands for. Don't mind me, I just felt like doing some knowledge sharing once in a blue moon, and today it so happens that the moon is kind of blue'ish.

1S = "Seiri" = Sort
Simply put, the foundation for 5S is this one, every item in our workplace has to be segregated from the needed and the unnecessary. This also means, when we're doing 1S, throw away all the excess junk if its not needed!

2S = "Seiton" = Store
Think of this phrase, "A place for everything and everything in its place" and you will roughly have an idea on what 2S is about. All items after segregation, and junks thrown away, the ones that we need will have to be stored in its designated location.

3S = "Seiso" = Shine
The third phase will be to get our workplace as clean and dirtless as possible. Make it shine! That's the key word here. If it can be washed, wash it, if it can be polished, polish it, heck, if it can be bleached, bleach it!

4S = "Seketsu" = Standardize
Once you're up to 4S, it means you have done and qualified for the 1st 3 S's which is actually already very good. 4S details the procedures and standardization for all items. Recording of inventory, and person responsible to maintain it has to be set at this stage.

5S = "Shitsuke" = Sustain
Now all good habits have to be constantly nurtured so that it becomes an automatic daily process. 5S is the ultimate phase for workplace organization, and when one has attained 5S, it means compliance is already automated and everything has become habit by nature.

We then become super tidy, shiny, and disciplined people. Well, the company I worked at is working towards a 5S culture. One fine morning I was walking to my locker on the production floor to see a sticker being stuck on it. Check it below.

New Stickers!
I love 5S, but I love My Work too?

My guess is the company wants us to practise 5S so much in our daily lives that they have to remind us in a form of visual reminder on our lockers. I'm okay with that, but to remind us on how much we love our work daily? I love my work alright..

Otak Otak Place Tropicana Mall

I had the chance to savor some nice Malaysian food from this eatery in Tropicana Mall the other day. It was just before the premiere screening of Battle LA. Otak Otak Place, direct translation from Bahasa Malaysia to English would have given us Brain's Place! Anyway, its not brains, but the Otak otak here stands for this delicious fish cake. A quick check for Otak Otak online gives me this definition:  "Otak-otak is a fish cake wrapped inside banana leaf. It can be found throughout Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia."

Otak-Otak Place with malaysian kampung decor

Otak Otak Place is located at Lot L1-58, 1st Floor of Tropicana City Mall in Petaling Jaya. You won't miss it because the front of the shop is really quite interesting with the hanging bicycle and all. Also there's this big wordings Otak Otak which you definately won't miss!

From the front

One of the first thing that strikes me as being unique the moment I sat down to order was the menu. The menu was old school style, in fact it is made to mirror an exercise book from the 80's, complete with "nama, darjah tingkatan, Perkara, Chegu". Check it out below.

Exercise Book Menu

Food & Memories You Love

Since this was my first visit to Otak Otak Place, I was recommended by my friends to take the Otak Otak Nasi Lemak. The dish came in this 3 tier classic carrier. I remmebered when I was young, I use to have my lunch delivered in this exact same carrier by this auntie who cooks and sends it over during weekdays.

Nasi Lemak Otak Otak

The rice with egg

The Nasi Lemak came with a generous sized Otak Otak, coupled with sambal, kacang and an egg. Pretty good, but it could have been better if they had thrown in more ingredients such as chicken, ikan bilis, etc. We ordered the Iced Honey Lemon Tea, and it really was quite nice to drink.

Honey Lemon Tea

My partner ordered the Fish Head Mee Sua. She had no complaints so I assumed it was good as well. It looked pretty appetizing to me.

Fish head mee sua

Overall the eating experience here was pleasant, with an air of nostalgia for the yesteryears. The price also was pretty reasonable at RM26 for 2 inclusive of tax. So if you're in the mood for some Otak Otak, and you're around tropicana, do drop over this shop to have a try.

Sucker Punch Premiere Screening

Omg, no matter what people say about this movie, after watching it, I like it. No, not for the storyline, maybe slightly for the 3D-ish fight scenes, but I like it for the artistic flair and fluidity of the camera and colors of this movie! It felt like an art show on display with the camera panning, and the colors, sometimes vivid, sometimes pale. The movie sort of reminded me of "300" for the art, "Inception" for the storyline, and "Resident Evil" for the 3D fantasy fight scenes!

Sucker Punch!

Anyway I got this free movie screening thanks to Nuffnang, and it was held at GSC 1 Utama. This time around, I was pretty late for the dinner with bloggers before the movie due to unforeseen circumstances. But I did manage to crash in during the final 20minutes of the dinner.

Special thanks to Jayren for helping me collect my tickets from the counter at 8pm. We had dinner together with my favourite gang of bloggers, and I'm glad I managed to meet a few new friends. Let me see if I can get all who sat at the dinner table tonight, Carmen, Kian Fai, Tony, Elwyn, Xing, Xing's friend, Li Chuen, Henry Tan, Jayren, Jiayeen and a few others.I really got to admire the premiere screening tickets tonight, it was so nice that you would have thought they made this tickets for a concert or something. Check it out below.

Complimentary Movie Tickets For The Night

Okay then, let's go though what the movie Sucker Punch is all about. The movies starts off with our main character Babydoll (Emily Browning) going through a traumatic experience an ends up in a mental institution. One thing led to another, and we're given a feast for the eyes with vivid fantasy world graphics together with 4 other really fine ladies fighting their way out.

We have the cool Sweet Pea (Abbie Cornish), the loud Rocket (Jena Malone), the wavy haired Blondie who isn't really blonde (Vanessa Hudgens) and the ever hot Amber (Jamie Chung). The scene moves from one reality to another, from one fantasy world to another. I eventually gave up on which was the real world, and just sat back to enjoy the graphics!

Overall, this show is watchable, with extremely nice graphics and artistic camera work. Check out the trailer and some movie stills below. Do catch it in the cinemas when you're able to! *spoiler alert* You will never get to see Babydoll dance, and her dance mesmerizes men, and make them sweat profusely after.

Morning Glory Special Screening

This evening I had the chance to attend a complimentary special screening of the movie Morning Glory courtesy of TimeOut KL. It was held at Cathay Cinema at e@Curve at 9.30pm. Upon getting to know I got the tickets, I did a quick check on the movie. 2 names popped up, Harrison Ford and Diane Keaton. Wait, Harrison Ford, in a comedy? This I have to watch, I thought to myself then.

Coming from the same writer that wrote "The Devil Wears Prada", this movie is of a similar genre. This time it's a romantic comedy set in the hilarious world of morning television. We have this workaholic producer Becky Fuller (Rachel McAdams) freshly fired from her previous job due to downsizing, having a really low point in her life career wise and relationship wise. Then she got this new job at "Daybreak", a morning television program with declining ratings and on the verge of being cancelled.

Sweet girl with grumpy man

We then see Becky recruiting on legendary TV anchor Mike Pomeroy (Harrison Ford), who previously only does serious and breaking news, in a bid to revitalize the show. It was funny to see Becky's antic, and interesting also to see how she matures in her relationship and handles grumpy Pomeroy (Harrison Ford) to make him do morning shows, which he distinctly hates doing!

Diane Keaton with grumpy Ford

Overall this was a nice comedy, albeit not enough romance, but more towards morning television comedy. The show actually felt rather short without much depth for its characters. However it did still got me laughing at certain scenes. Do check out the trailer below. I can't help thinking how much my parents would love this movie.
