Arriving at BBQ Ma Eul Cup Bab, i was taken in by how comfy and homely it felt. The look and feel was one of dining at home. In fact, it had a very “Korean” shop feel to the restaurant. Located at the bustling Damansara Utama or Damansara Uptown, they have both indoor dining space as well as open air seating. Definitely a good experience.

We were quickly ushered to our seats, where the barbecue meat, and side dishes were prepared. We could top up anytime for the side dishes, and I must say, they are really appetising. Just see what we had for our side dish below, it can literally fill you up even before our meat are barbecued.

Over at Bbq Ma Eul Cup Bab, there’s 3 types of packages, suitable for 2 to 3 diners. The pricing were pretty affordable as well, considering this is a Korean joint. We were recommended to try out the specially marinated pork and pork ribs, which tasted awesome after being cooked to perfection! IN fact we even tried out their spicy pork belly, and it wasn’t too spicy nor overly flavoured. Heavenly flavours.

When the grilled meat arrived at our table, we had the option of eating it with piping hot cheese on a hot platter. It goes really well with the meat, making the taste even richer. I love cheese, and having Korean styles grilled bbq pork with cheese is just perfect. If you feel like dining outdoors, do proceed to have your meal outside as it is airier.

While we enjoyed the grilled meat, we did have a chance to try out the Spicy Rice Ball as well. Cook your own rice balls. It’s pretty easy actually, all one has to do is to cup these rice balls and proceed to cook it on the grill. Everything has already been pre-mixed, and my, it did taste good. The rice is really fragrant.

Try out also their Kimchi pancake (a must order in any korean restaurant) as well as the spicy rice cake or Tteok-bokki as I like to call them. The rice cake can be ordered with a mix of ramen, cheese or both! Good stuff.

Cold noodles, I’m not a big fan of these, but surprisingly, here when we tried the Buckwheat Noodle Soup it actually tasted okay. Served icy cold, the texture was one of a springy noodle. It must be the combination of the noodle, and the ice cold soup as it was a refreshing treat.

  1. I sure would want to sit inside, dining outdoor is not for me, not in our tropical weather. Love those caricatures, so cute!
