Baby Martin's 1st Birthday Party Celebration With The Family

Time flies, and it flies really fast. It felt like yesterday Baby Martin came into our lives, and just last week, he experienced his first birthday party with us. We decided to hold a small birthday celebration for Baby Martin to celebrate his one year old birthday over at my home in Penang. One year has passed, with each day bringing us new memories and learning through this parenting journey of mine.

We knew he would not remember much of this simple birthday celebration, but it was more of a way for us to foster better ties between my family and my in-laws over a nice evening of balloons, food and happy faces. We decided to hold it over at my home in Teluk Kumbar Penang, as both sides of my families are living in Penang, making it the perfect location.

Preparations were simple enough, as I did not want to get anybody tired cooking and preparing the food. We opted to source the food outside, getting a mixture of KFCs, curry fish, mee, crackers, and many more sweet stuff.

Mum made some really nice sweet fruit punch, and that was about it. There was the obligatory "red egg" as well as two roasted chicken drumstick, food items which I was told that symbolizes longetivity and the likes.

I don't think I remembered me having a 1st year birthday celebration during my time, so it was good to be able to snap loads of photos this time around, to keep in memory and probably show Baby Martin when he's older. Two specially prepared roast chicken drumstick was prepared for Baby Martin, not for him to actually eat, but more of a symbolic "hold and bite" gesture.

Janice went ahead with the birthday cake preparations, ordering a jelly cake instead of the usual cake. I would have preferred a normal sweet cake though, but this was good too. Check out the cake below.

It was a pretty nice evening out, with Janice's brothers and sisters making up the bulk of Baby Martin's birthday party attendees. Oh, there were his pillows, teddy bears, toy cars, new shirts and pants to keep him company and excited too.

The first year has passed, and here's looking forward to more experiences with Baby Martin. Waking up to see his smile and watching him learn new stuffs everyday is what keeps me psyched up and pumped to persevere on for the family. Happy Birthday Baby Martin, and do check back on this blog post when you are grown up ya!
