Carlsberg Malaysia Oktoberfest 2013 Media Launch

How time flies, it felt like it was only yesterday when I experienced last year's Oktoberfest 2012 and here we are again at the launch of the month long celebration to begin soon. With an endless flow of beer and fun, Carlsberg Malaysia is bringing us Oktoberfest, the world renowned annual Bavarian festival to our neighborhood bars throughout Malaysia.

Date: 26 September 2013
Time: 7pm onwards
Venue: Pavilion KL (Weissbrau & La Bodega)

Held over at Pavilion KL last night, Weissbrau and La Bodega to be exact, the Carlsberg Malaysia Oktoberfest 2013 Media Launch was a really colourful event, complete with the traditional costumed ladies, the "chicken" song, and lots of good german sausages among other stuff. It was a while since my last alcohol event, so I was pretty excited to check out the atmosphere.

Carlsberg Malaysia Oktoberfest 2013 is a beer extravaganza that offers the most loved beer brand, Carlsberg as well as three imported Bavarian beer brands, Erdinger, Franziskaner and Lowenbrau. All these are served in collectible rugged style steins which customers are able to take home and add to their collection.

"True to Bavarian tradition, Carlsberg Malaysia Oktoberfest was officiated with the tapping of the ceremonial keg by Managing Director of Carlsberg Malaysia Henrik Juel Andersen, together with the brewer's subsidiary Luen Heng F&B Sdn Bhd General Manager Kenneth Soh, Vice President, Passenger Cars, Mercedes Benz Malaysia Mr Kai Schlickum and Ms Joyce Yap, CEO, Retail of Pavilion KL. Almost immediately after the first keg was tapped, a resounding toot of the 12-foot long horn (acclaimed as the first of its kind in Malaysia) reverberated across the corridors of Pavilion KL. Successfully making it into the Malaysian Book of Records as the "Longest Carlsberg Malaysia Oktoberfest Longhorn", it was indeed a sight. Check out how long it is below.

Not forgetting the lovely Carlsberg Dirndl girls, all beautifully decked in traditional Bavarian outfits, we were entertained with their witty "chicken dance" alongside Oktoberfest revellers. Oktoberfest is about bringing people together in the spirit of good cheer while enjoying the food, music and beer which was exactly how it played out last night.

I was told the festivities will last the whole month of Oktober, where beer lovers can enjoy the authentic yet uniquely Carlsberg Malaysia experience at eight selected venues nationwide. This will eventually lead to the Grand Finale party which will take place exclusively at the Old Wing outdoor car park of 1 Utama Shopping Centre on October 11th to 13th.

These upcoming parties will come complete with the collectible beer stein, authentic Oktoberfest Oom Pa Pah band, the record breaking 12-foot long horn, Carlsberg Dirndl girls as well as plenty of games and online contests to take home more collectible premiums.

In addition to the major parties, Carlsberg Malaysia did partner with their customers to co-host smaller parties at 38 western-concept bars and pubs and will be running the Oktoberfest promotion at over 300 outlets nationwide.
