Burger Bakar Kaw Kaw Wangsa Maju
After all the buzz about this Burger Bakar Kaw Kaw (Grilled Street Burger) in Wangsa Maju, I've always wanted to join in the queue and find out what is it that attracts the crowd. However, each time I pass their stall in Wangsa Maju, the long queue dampened my spirit. This time however, I was adamant on waiting until I get my hands on these burgers.

The long queue I had to endure for 2 hours plus |
The good thing was my house in Wangsa Maju was just a stone's throw away, hence this evening I just walked over to join the queue around 6.30pm. The sun was still up, but I knew by the time I got my hands on these burgers, it would have already turned dark. Everyone around me was in a good mood though, as most of them were first timers like me.
Taking orders for the various burgers |
The process was pretty simple, but I'll take the effort to state out the steps that one had to undertake before actually getting the burger.
- Queue up with the rest, don't let the long queue dampen your spirit.
- Someone will come up to you passing you your queue number, mine was #47 at 6.30pm.
- The menu and price list will be passed to you, take your time analyzing what you wish to order.
- Continue queuing, approach the orders table in front only when your number is called up.
- After placing your order, and paying up, stand aside and wait for your burger to be prepared.
Kaw Kaw Burger Bakar Price List (as of 6 May 2012) |
Check the above for the complete price list. With prices ranging from RM7.50 for a single patty burger to RM63.50 for 10 patties and everything on top, there's a price for everyone's budget and stomach. As for the burger types, it was really simple, you have the chicken burger (deep fried) and the beef burger (flame grilled).
The raw beef patties used |
The workers preparing the burger bakar kaw kaw |
While waiting for my burger to get prepared, I had ample time to walk around the stall checking out what was cooking. The beef patties were really thick, while their chicken were a whole piece of thigh. I made a mistake of ordering 2 double patty burgers, as it was a bit too much. Anyway check out some more photos I managed to capture with my less than optimum mobile phone camera below.
Beautifully flame grilled beef patties |
That's how you flame up a burger! |
After queuing up for such a long time, when my turn came up to order, I got greedy and went for the Cheezy double layer beef burger and Cheezy double layer chicken burger. These burgers came with 2 huge patties of beef and chicken with 2 slices of cheese with cheesy sauce. I realize my mistake when I reached home as 2 huge patties of meat was way more than what my stomach could eat. Check out my orders below.
#1 Cheezy Double Layered Beef Burger - RM16 |
A closeup of the beef patty |
What can I say about these burgers, well for starters they're both really thick. The Cheezy Double Layered Beef Burger had lots of meat in it. One was more than enough for the average person, but I went and ordered double layered. The patty itself was filling, and tasted okay. It was not as tasty as the smell suggested though.
#2 Cheezy Double Layered Chicken Burger - RM14 |
As for the Double Layered Chicken Burger, it had a strong smell of oil, I
guess that's because it was deep fried. Janice liked it though, as she
went for one piece. Yours truly had to finish up 1 and a half burgers,
and I'm feeling really too full now.
Will I queue up again for these burgers? Well, I spent 2 hours and 15 minutes at Burger Bakar Kaw Kaw Wangsa Maju to finally get my burgers. It was an experience, but one which I may not want to go through anytime soon again. Personally, I don't really get why there's so much hype about this place, but that's just me. Check it out if you're in the vicinity of Wangsa Maju.

ReplyDeleteheard of this burger place sometime back. have to 'Q' up very long n some on the menu can go up to more than rm50. the size of the burger, if more than one patty is way too much. tak boleh tahan! been mentioning about this burger kaw to my hubby few weeks ago. after reading your post about it n since there is not much 'hoo-hah', it will be out fr my list :) thanks.....

2 hours of queueing, with that thick patty, and Rm16 for a burger, patutlah nama burger kaw kaw !
ReplyDeletewho willing to que on my behalf? LOL
ReplyDeletewow who could possible buy 10 patties? lol
ReplyDeletethe cost of the 10 patty is dam costy and for the health Issue, I think I decide not to q up for this burger too. hahaha
ReplyDelete*sigh* this place was much better before it was advertised and all that. I went during weekend back then, and the crowd was not as huge. The burger tasted nice too, with all the bacons and stuff. But this... this is nightmare!
ReplyDeleteMaybe you ordered a bit too much .. they filled you up to the brim and when you think back, you wouldnt want to stomach them anymore.. hahaha... i think i can forgo these burgers.. I see the flame, I takut.. direct fire.. haha...
ReplyDeletetwo hours for that?????
ReplyDeletewhen i saw the price, i thought rather pricey but when saw the patty...kira ok la.
