Revamped Berkshire Menu @ Passione Ristorante Italiano, Sri Petaling

It was a rather relaxing evening out over at Passione Ristorante Italiano, Sri Petaling. We were there to savour some of their signature porky dishes from the recently revamped menu. It’s my first time there for quite some time, so it’s refreshing to see and experience the comfortable ambiance of the restaurant. An Italian restaurant at heart, it’s pretty sweet that their range of dishes reflects the spirit of Italian cooking inside, a true expression of passion.

Pizza!

We arrived at the restaurant rather early in the evening, and already there was a healthy amount of customers in the restaurant. Adhering to all SOPs with regards to social distancing and mask, we then proceed to our table. Opening the menu, we were treated to a wide variety of Berkshire pork dishes. The tagline “You are what you eat: A healthy Berkshire, a healthy man” really does sound pretty convincing. Berkshire pork is black pig which is fed with a balanced and nutritious diet in the most natural way, which does not contain antibiotics, growth hormones, and muscle drugs.

Our first dish for the night had to be a porkalicious one. We tried the Concentrated Pork Soup with Rolled Cabbage Dumpling, which didn’t really tickle my fancy. It does have a very strong tinge of pork flavour as the pork bone soup is high pressure cooked to give out the flavours.

No Italian meal is complete without some pasta, and that’s exactly what we tried next. Passione Ristorante Italiano does serve a wide variety of pasta dishes, and the one we had that evening was the Berkshire Pork Tagliatelle. A pasta dish made from minced pork ragu and house sausages in tomato pulp sauce, if you’re a fan of pasta you will definitely appreciate this dish.

Pizza Berkshire and Crema di Tartufo

Pizza makes the world go round. What better way to enjoy a thin crust pizza than to enjoy a pork infused thin crust pizza. Featuring Berkshire’s roasted pork,  grilled zucchini, truffle paste, smoked cheese and generous amounts of mozzarella on top, I just could not get enough of these. The pizzas are all made by hand, fired up to a high heat to ensure caramelisation of the yummy ingredients. Flavourful indeed.

Berkshire Pork Chop

Up next, we had the signature Berkshire Pork Chop, which surprised me with its tenderness. Juicy, high quality meat, the stone grilled pork chop is marinated in Sriracha and Miso sauces, giving out a rather unique taste to the traditional pork chop offering.

Good stuff. What’s better than pork chop? Thick Berkshire Ribs of course! Glazed in herb and spiced butter, the charred baby back ribs is not only really flavourful, the meat literally fell of the bones. Just the way I like my ribs.

Bouillabaisse & Bluespotted Fantail Rays

Out of the blue, our interests were piqued to try out Passione Ristorante Italiano’s seafood dishes. We tried both the Bouillabaisse, a tomato fish stew seafood pot that consists of baby abalone, prawn, threadfin fish, squid and clam as well as the Bluespotted Fantail Rays. Fresh seafood, I quite like the fantail rays, a grilled stingray dish in brown butter, with generous servings of clam, edamame and baby cherry tomatoes confit.
