Just the other day, we were over at Sunway Velocity Cheras to check out some of the many Chinese cuisine over at Chuanxi Bazi, If you’re a big fan of spicy steamboat and hot pot, this is the place to be. Located at Sunway Visio Tower, just a stone’s throw away from the main mall, we were there to check out their new menu selections featuring over 20 additional hotpot ingredients. Read on.

An interesting back story to the restaurant, did you know Chuanxi Bazi started off in Chengdu, China, operating out of a modest shoplift, to now having over 300 stores worldwide. 



We went for their Signature Imperial Fish Maw Broth that is crafted from all natural ingredients, first of its kind in Malaysia. Premium selections of Filefish and Imported Australian Marbled Beef Slice (A4 Grade) were also in line for us to try out that evening.

Entering the restaurant, it exudes an ambiance of being in a traditional Chinese restaurant, from the wooden furnitures, to the decorations hanging from the ceiling.

The sauces were a spectacle to behold, a whole line of various sauces from mushroom to spicy ones, all ready to complement your gourmet selections. Good stuff.

Chef Yang, the resident Senior Chef of Chuanxi Bazi Malaysia explained that the new broth was uniquely crafted by Masterchef and Founder Hu Jian Qing for the Malaysian market after realizing the great response from Malaysian patrons to their Signature Mushroom Broth.


        
The Premium A4 Grade Australian Beef had to be my favourite item off Chuanxi Bazi’s menu that evening. Fresh and tasty, I could dine on these the whole night if given the chance. All their ingredients are inspected daily to ensure that quality of supply is of the acceptable specifications. 

The A4 Australian beef are imported after reviewing numerous suppliers and checked daily for their levels of meat color, marbling and fat depth. No surprises then that it tastes great!

The broth used were very flavourful as well. We tried the spicy “ma la” broth and my, it really did tantalise the taste buds with the spiciness from the many Sichuan pepper and chilli pepper inside. Not for the faint hearted though. However you could request for different levels of spiciness, from what I understood.

Have they got clear broth? Not a fan of these...unfortunately.
