Ready to dine! |
Frangipaani’s ambiance is akin to a really comfy tavern of sorts. I love how the decor is inspired by British-India colonial charm, giving out a really nice vibe. In fact the architecture has the background of a tropical rainforest. Dining in this classy restaurant did have its perks, visual wise. The antique mirrors, marble table tops, wood panelling really does it for me.

The Frangipaani is also known as the Deva Nagale or God’s Flower in Kannada, a language spoken in the Old Mysore region of what is now modern-day Karnataka in South India. As the tree and the flowers play a big influence in the Indian culture for centuries, it is only apt that Kuala Lumpur’s newest Indian culinary cove is named after it.

It was a good night indeed |
We met up with Leslie Gomez, the Managing Director of The Olive Tree Group which owns Frangipaani. He did mention that Frangipaani is not your usual fine dining restaurant. They will be serving popular Indian fare along with carefully curated Anglo-Indian recipe native of Goa, to create a rare, sensory experience.
Leslie added that when he says their repertoire is Indian cuisine, it isn't limited to just northern Indian staples. Frangipaani’s food represents the classic yet unexplored charm of India’s diverse region. Let’s move on to the food we had that night yea!

Appetiser- Crab Rasam
We kicked off our evening some some Crab Rasam, literally Crab soup in a bowl. The dish came complete with crabs inside. The soup was too tasty, with lots of spice flavours inside. It wasn’t too heavy, and had a light aftertaste, perfect to prepare for us on the next food offerings.

Small Plates
We were served with the Aloo & Moong’s Sprouts Chaat next. A mix of green moong sprouts, potato, onion, tomato, green chutney, sweet chutney, chaat masala, cumin powder, red chilli powder, lemon juice and coriander leaves gives out a rather healthy green dish. Have it with the accompanied crispy treats, and it does whet one’s appetite for the meaty dishes to come.

Refreshing! |
Frangipaani’s Butter Chicken, Lamb Rogan Josh and Malai Kofta
A combination of the nicest blend of butter chicken, lamb and Malai Kofta, we had each of it with lots of Butter Naan. Each flavour had a distinct taste, from the curries to the softness of the lamb, to the vegetarian Malai Kofta dish made up of potato & paneer balls in smooth, rich and creamy gravy.

Lamb Chops
Who doesn't love some lamb chops. Here at Frangipaani, their lamb chops came as their house specials, complete with lots of spices and onions on the side. Good stuff!

Briyani
Another must try at Frangipaani would be their Mutton Dum Briyani. Served with generous amounts of mutton inside, I was pleasantly pleased with the flavours. Goes really well with the curries served too!

Truly appetizing |
We ended our rather scrumptious dinner at Frangipaani with the traditional Gulab Jamun dessert. Now here's one really sweet ending. Yum.

If you’re in the vicinity, and looking to indulge in some sugar and spice, Frangipaani is the ideal restaurant for all occasions. Make your reservations today at 03-20110030.
The guys at the entrance look like they're on an African safari...and the name sounds like Thai...if not for the paani. Having said all that, I do think the food looks really good - got my eyes on the lamb chop, alluring!!! Hey! You're looking good there!
