Chef’s Signature Mooncakes This Year

Almond Baked Skin, Pandan, Cream Cheese Salted Yolk and Chestnut Mooncakes make up the signature mooncakes this year. Designed in a beautiful flower shape, these mooncakes were different than the usual flour-based baked skin mooncake. Using almond bulbs as its skin, this should be a much healthier option! Yums.

Durian Snow Skin Mooncake with Salted Caramel Chocolate

An interesting mix indeed, we tried out the Durian Snow Skin Mooncake with Salted Caramel Chocolate. I was intrigued at the mix, and did ask from the Chef what inspired him.  Tao’s Chinese Cuisine’s Master Dim Sum Chef, Chef Lo Tian Sion mentioned they wanted a new twist on the usual durian mooncakes. It turned out really really well, as the salted caramel chocolate added a savoury sweet flavour to the durian flavours. Good stuff!

Another extravagant snow skin gem is Butterfly Pea Flower Snow Skin with Bird’s Nest. This blue precious is a must-try for those who appreciate collagens. Both of these Durian and Bird’s Nest snow skin mooncakes were crowd’s favourites of 2017 and 2018. Be sure to try out Chef Lo’s new flavours - Green Tea Paste with Tiramisu, and Pomegranate Snow Skin with Teo Chew Yam Paste and Single Yolk as both are beautifully crafted and the combinations are match made in heaven.
