Kin No Uma Japanese Restaurant @ Palace of The Golden Horses

Would you believe it? I haven’t been to the Palace of the Golden Horses for quite a while now. Just last week or so, I was back there at their 5 star Japanese restaurant, Kin No Uma in conjunction with the Japanese Cultural Event promotion which showcased some of Chef Tsuneyoshi Komatsu San’s signature dishes. Read on below.

Food Tasting @ Kin No Uma

Food, glorious Japanese noms, all laid out for our consumption. To my delight the food tasting session included a variety of seafood, sashimi, Yakimono, grilled and deep fried signature dishes. We kicked off with some appetisers in the form of raw seafood and steamed Japanese spring roll, aka Zensai. Great start.

Up next, we had the Nimono, Tofu with Somen, which surprisingly tasted great, considering it isn’t your usual warm bowl of noodles, being served room temperature / cold instead. Love the flavours. When the sashimis were brought out, we were treated to a plater of fresh raw tuna, grilled tuna, scallops and squid.

Yakimono & Takiawase

The Yakimono (Grilled Snapper with miso) was served on a pretty plate. I did find the grilled snapper a tad too chewy, but the flavours were nice and once we got to the flesh inside, it’s all good! Next we had the Takiawase which came in the form of simmer root vegetables. No complains there.

Bring forth the tempuras! being neither too oily, the Agemono, deep fried fish, shrimps and vegetables tempura were good, going well with the home made dipping sauce.

My favourite dish for the evening, the Grilled Wagyu Maksusakaushi with Wasabi Soy Sauce was served in similar fashion, on a clean white platter. Oh my, it reminded me of my days where I got to enjoy wagyu any chance I could. So tender, literally melting in the mouth, you must try these when you’re over at Kin No Uma Japanese Restaurant @ Palace of The Golden Horses.

No Japanese meal is complete without some Japanese rice roll, which we also had that evening. The Futomaki came with Tuna, Eggplant, Omelette, Seaweed, assorted pickles and vegetables all rolled into a sweet offering. Ending our meal we had the dessert, some sweet Japanese ice cream.

  1. That chef is old, must have had a lot of experience, everything must be really good. I love the blue and white crockery!
