Simply Malay Buffet @ Bijan Restaurant, Jalan Ceylon

How time flies. It’s nearing that time of year again, when the fasting month of Ramadan is upon us. An apt time to rediscover Malay food heritage too, from traditional yesteryear recipes to modern renditions of classic dishes over at Bijan Restaurant. I was just there a couple of nights back to sample some of their upcoming Simply Malay buffet which will run from the 9th to 31st of May 2019. Check out what we had.

Bring Forth The Good Malay Cuisine!

This time around Bijan Restaurant introduced their new Head Chef Razis, together with his assistant Chef Ujang, they have planned out some great menu for this upcoming holy month. The theme is simple enough, “Simply Malay”, all about showcasing some of the really unique, rich and hearty traditional Malay food.

Now this wasn’t the first time I’ve been to Bijan, and of all my visits, they have been good ones. I am always impressed with their dishes, well prepared and really, really, flavourful. This year, the chefs brought together a mix of delicious noms, from the Ikam Kerapu, Satay Udang, Satay Sotong, Roast Lamb, and many more offerings.

There’s a host of all time favourites as well in the buffet spread, from the Keropok Lekor, Laksa Negeri, Asam Pedas Daging Tetel, Sup Tulang Rusuk, Salai Lemak Sembilan, and Pasembor, just to name a few. I like the fact that they served up a wide selection of sambal to go with the meal. Lots of yummy choices!

Love how the hosts of Satay turned out. Bijan not only served up the usual Satay Ayam and Satay Daging, but there’s the Satay Perut, Satay Paru, Satay Kang, and even the Satay Sotong. Don’t miss out on their Otak Otak.

Let there be Satay!

As with any feast, the desserts are everywhere, from Kueh Talams, to Pengat, fruits and the mandatory Ice Kacang and ice creams. Don’t forget to try out their Kerabus as well. For more details on Bijan Restaurant’s Simply Malay buffet, see the below.
