Coming back to the night where we witnessed the launch of the cookbook. During the launch at Ruyi & Lyn Bangsar Shopping Centre, Executive Chef James Ho served dishes cooked using Thermomix®, showcasing its versatility. Chef James and Theresa Lee jointly demonstrated several dishes served in the specially crafted 6- course menu for this event. Even the founder of Ruyi & Lyn, Mr Yng Lyn Siew said: "We are glad to collaborate with Thermomix® to showcase how this wonderful kitchen gadget may be used in a large format restaurant like ours to serve hundreds".

Let the Feast Begin! 


We kicked off our specially crafted 6-course menu with the really unique 3-piece sushi dish. On our plate, we had the Hainanese Chicken Rice Sushi, Teriyaki Chicken Rice Ball and Ruyi & Lyn’s popular Nasi Lemak Sushi. Not bad at all.

Tofu Flower Soup


Up next, I would think this dish isn’t easy to make at all. Aptly named the Tofu Flower Soup, the soft silky Tofu is cut so artistically and fine that it came out looking like a flower the moment the soup is poured in. The pepper content is high though, so be sure to take in the soup in small sips, less you’ll be overwhelmed with the spiciness of the pepper. Silky texture, beautiful dish indeed.

Fried Chicken Coated With Prawn Paste & Roasted Almond


Next we were served with the Fried Chicken Coated With Prawn Paste & Roasted Almond dish. Not exactly my favourite dish of the night, but it’s pretty unique in the sense this dish combines the juiciness of chicken with tender prawn paste into one meaty delight. Deep fried, with a crispy coating, the almond flakes did add lots of yumminess to this dish.

Deep Fried Prawns Dipped In Wasabi Sauce


What? I was intrigued upon seeing the light green colour of the Deep Fried Prawns Dipped In Wasabi Sauce. Will the wasabi sauce be too much? Luckily, the crunchy deep fried prawns wrapped inside a “dimsum-like” skin with wasabi sauce didn’t taste too heavily of wasabi. In fact I love the freshness of the prawn, and the light wasabi flavour did miracles in enhancing the overall taste of this dish. Good stuff!

Grouper Wallet served with Homemade Noodles


Love the noodles on this dish, which comes served with Grouper Wallet. What’s in the “wallet”? Steamed fresh fish fillet and prawn paste, stuffed into a beancurd pocket. Pretty nice, but it would have been better if we had taken it immediately upon being served, hot and all.

Dessert, the end of our fine dine meal at Ruyi & Lyn, came in the form of the Green Tea Lava Cake Served With Lime Ice Popsicles.
