Japanese Food Dining @ Kouzu Malaysia Bangsar

An interesting mix of Japanese food on their menu, you’ll get Tokyo’s Izakayas and Madrid’s tapas bar flair of food when you dine at Kouzu Bangsar. Contemporary Japanese fusion kind of food, that’s what we had the other evening. Located in the heart of Bangsar, along Jalan Telawi 3 to be exact, the atmosphere and ambiance were both comfy and chill at th same time. Check out what we had that evening below.

Yakitori, My Favourite!

The closest to Japanese street food I could find would be these Yakitori delights. Skewered meat, ranging from only RM5 to RM15 per stick, there’s a whole lot of choices to choose from. Kouzu Bangsar serves really good Yakitoris, from Wing, Soft Bones, Skin, Thigh Teriyaki, Gizzard, Smoke Duck, Sirloin, Short Ribs, Ox Tongue, Rack of Lamb to Rock Lobster, Squid Tentacles, Escargot, Dashimaki Tamago, Quail Egg, Shitake, King Mushroom, Okra, Sweet Corn and more. Now that’s a mouthful indeed.

Since this is contemporary Japanese food dining, don’t be surprised to see a selection of chilled and hot tapas on their menu as well. That evening, we tried the Creamy Baked Oysters too, which comes with doused in piquat miso, ebiko and teriyaki sauce. Good start to more noms.

I was surprised by the Blue Fin Tuna and Foie Gras dish which came after. These were to be found in the hot tapas menu, featuring herbs seared maguro topped with creamy foie gras and sweet apple chutney in flavourful unagi sauce.

Up next, we tried the Angel Hair Pasta, a cold dish, consisting of angel hair pasta covered with generous amount of mentaiko roe and ebiko. It is indeed a very tasty dish, as the mentaiko and ebiko left a nice flavour to the taste bud. The garnishing include perilla leaf, caviar and nori, exquisite!

Nihonjin Pizza

Pizza at a Japanese bar? Why not. We went for the very unique Japanese Escargot Pizza, one which tasted rather sweet but very flavourful. Freshly made from the kitchen, the pizza dish was served piping hot, and in a rather large portion. Good stuff.

We ended our meal at Kouzu Bangsar with the Green Tea Creme Brûlée, a sweet ending to a good meal out. The creme brulee classic dessert is paired with green tea ice cream.
