It’s that time of year again. Grateful to be invited to sample some of the fares that The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur have to offer this 15th May to 14th June 2018, it was a great "makan-makan" night. The offerings were extensive, with a dining experience unlike your usual buffet. This year, the hotel presented two different menus, namely the Festive Variety to be held at Contango restaurant, and the Festive Banquet Menu. Check it out below!

Festive Variety Dinner at Contango
Featuring two open kitchens, there’s a rather wide variety of dishes prepared by the chef, from Thai cuisine, to Japanese, Western and even Italian dishes. There’s bound to be something for everyone. Of course the Malay cuisine is of top focus for the Festive Variety Dinner menu.

What’s unique is the fact that there are offerings from the best of Malaysia’s nine Royal states at the Malay Dishes Counter. We had the mouth-watering Kambing Percik ala Chef Khairil from Pahang to Kelantan Nasi Kerabu, followed by Rendang Ekor from northern region and Udang Galah Masak Lemak Cili Padi Tempoyak from Negeri Sembilan.

Don’t forget to try and savour the juiciness of flavourful Rendang Kambing that is braised in traditional spices and fluffy white rice and fragrant Nasi Hujan Panas seasoned with local spices, turmeric and shallots. How much does it cost? Other side dishes such as Beef Soup, Fried Crabs and more will be introduced throughout the festive season.

Almost similar, but very much different as well, savour more than a hundred classic Malay recipes prepared specially by Chef Zaidi and his team that promise a journey of culinary discovery and fond food memories when breaking the fast.

At the Majestic Festive Banquet Dinner, we tried out the Kambing Percik ala Chef Khairil at the kambing golek counter served with rosemary sauce, mint sauce, asam dip and chilli soy dip. Other side dishes such as Acar Buah, Sambal Tempe, Pajeri Terung and Rojak Buah can also be found here.

There’s dessert as well, yay! Please your sweet tooth at the dessert section with an array of heavenly desserts to complete your dining experience. The dessert section features local delicacies like Malay kuih, Cendol and Bubur Pulut Hitam. Held at the Function Rooms at Level 3 of The Majestic Hotel, the Majestic Festive Banquet Dinner is priced at RM125 nett per person.
