Who is Pierre Ledent?

Before we proceed, let's get into the introduction of Pierre Ledent shall we? He's the mastermind behind the luxury brand, named after himself. Pierre Ledent hails from Belgium, winning the Belgium National Arts Award twice in a row, as well as winning the top prize for every single competing category in a prestigious international confectionery championship during 1994 in Tokyo, Japan. Yes, he is pretty cool.

We were treated to a demonstration on how Pierre makes his famous iced and hot chocolates. Interestingly enough, it's all pure chocolate used, with no milk powder nor water added into the mix. We got to savour different levels of chocolates concentration , from the 55% ones to the 80% concentrated ones!

During the event, we got to sample batches of iced and hot chocolates of both concentration, namely the 55% ones as well as the 80% ones. The best part of all this was that we got to pair it with Mercato Cafe's macaroons and Pierre Ledent's pralines which comes with various fillings. This is heaven!

My personal favourite? The 55% iced chocolate, creamy, yet not too strong. Sweet, yet not as sweet as the white chocolate. Very very nice, perfect to cool us down. The coffee with white chocolate that was served to us is new to Malaysia, where Pierre Ledenet brought to us a masterpiece. It may be a tad sweeter than your regular chocolate though.

There you have it, my brief yet very fulfilling chocolate appreciation session with the man himself, Pierre Ledent. The next time you're out shopping in Pavilion KL, be sure to drop by Mercato Cafe and bring home some of Pierre Ledent's chocolate creations. They're good, really.
