It's the talk of town, and if you haven't heard about it yet, Marco Creative Cuisine in One Utama which opened its doors to public on 27th March 2017 is offering a 7 course fine dining meal for only RM78. Yes, you heard that right, no where else can you get what they have to offer for that pricing. We tried it the other day, so do check out some of the beautiful food I managed to capture below.

About Marco Creative Cuisine


Marco Creative Cuisine is located in One Utama, old wing on the ground floor to be exact. It's a 62-seater restaurant, with Chef Daren at the helm. Chef Daren introduces his unique culinary creations with his 7-course degustation fine dining menu, aptly named 'The Journey Of Flavours'. Each dish is carefully crafted and made from scratch, which lends itself to the intense flavours and taste of each course.

Upon reaching the restaurant, I was taken aback by the sheer number of diners both inside, as well as enquiring to enter to savour their fares. It's so popular, for both couples, family dining and even for corporate folks who want to have their meals in the comfy, contemporary French Western chic decor environment of Marco Creative Cuisine.

Palate Cleanser - Velvety Matcha-Lime Shooter


As with any fine dining meal, we were served with the refreshing lime flavoured palate cleanser. It's called the Velvety Matcha-Lime Shooter, a really in-your-mouth explosion of sourness and slight tinge of sweetness which managed to wake me up immediately. Of course, this simple dish helped to clean and neutralize our taste buds and palate for the really interesting dishes to come.

Appetizer: Savoury Éclair


The appetizer in the menu is this rather interesting twist to your normal Eclair. Here we had the Savoury Eclair. What's on it? Gruyere Flavoured Pate a Choux topped with creamy Aubergine Caviar, Green Chile Pesto, and Tomato Confit, that's what. Such uniqueness, I love the savoury taste of it, fitting perfectly between our fingers before popping it into our mouth. Good stuff!

Soup - Truffled Mushroom Soup or French Onion Soup or Strawberry Gazpacho


The subsequent dishes on the 7-course menu was a choice between one or the other. It's good too that Marco Creative Cuisine gave us some lee way into deciding what we would like to have as our soup, entree, main and dessert. For soup, we tried out the Truffled Mushroom Soup and the French Onion Soup that evening.

Classic, with an added luxury of having generous amounts of truffle oil in the mix. The Truffled Mushroom Soup itself was so creamy and nice, wild mushroom is used. Lovely indeed, I could not get enough of the soup itself. This was a really good soup choice to order off their menu.

Another good soup, the caramelised Onion Broth Soup comes with French Toast on the side. Love how the sweetness from the caramelised onions brought the flavours out. Dip your french toast into the soup, and munch on the caramelised onions after, it's all good! Did you know the good folks from Marco Creative Cuisine took 5 hours of cooking to bring out the sweetness of this soup?

For our Entree dish, we chose the Savoury Ice Cream and the Garden Platter. There is a total of 3 choices to choose from, with the Chicken Liver Parfait being the other one. The Savoury Ice Cream came with salad, served on a nicely plated platter which was interesting to say the least. The whole dish took up only half of the plate, a unique way of plating to me, but it was so good. The savoury ice cream which is made from milk and salt tasted really well with the salad and greens.

Doused in wonderful Bribiche Sauce (French Tartar Sauce), we had a whole plate of fresh mixed greens, Marco's Garden Platter. The tangy sauce went well with the greens, a mix of edible soil below, and garden greens on top. 

Mains: Salmon with Jet Black Hollandaise or Duck Breast with Orange Puree and Roasted Beetroot or Chicken Roulade with Brussels Sprout or Squid Ink Japonica Rice & more!

The Salmon with Jet Black Hollandaise was my choice of mains that evening. The dish came with a rather generous piece of salmon, succulent and tender, with crispy skin on the outside. Served with Squid Ink Hollandaise and Green Chile Pesto which is neatly decorated on the plate, this is one really tasty dish. Love how everything went so well together, sauce and fish.

My all time favourite dish at Marco Creative Cuisine has to be their Squid Ink Japonica Rice. Japanese short grain rice cooked with Squid Ink accompanied with prawn, baby squid and omelette, served with Garlic Mayonnaise, this savoury sweet topped the list with it's intense flavours. Tasty and delicious, this is a must-order dish if you dine here.

End your meal with some sweet dessert. For us, we tried their Deconstructed Lemon Meringue Pie and the Creme Brulee with White Chocolate Sherbet. The Deconstructed Lemon Meringue Pie comes highly recommended, which didn't look like it's namesake at all. It had elements of Lemon Curd, Passion Fruit Gel, Italian Meringue and White Chocolate Sherbet. I personally liked how the Creme Brulee turned out, perfect. 

Choose from Single Origin French Pressed Coffee, Loose Tea Leaves, or Sparkling Iced Berry, being part of the 7-course menu. We had the Loose Tea Leaves, which came in a uniquely shaped cup.

Marco Creative Cuisine offers a pause for hectic lifestyles and is our calming oasis in the midst of a busy mall. On top of having the 7 course meal, they do offer a la carte dishes as well, at the following price.
