Duddha @ Suria KLCC - Asian Food Reconstructed
Duddha @ Suria KLCC - Asian Food Reconstructed
How interesting, what used to be The Apartment Downtown KLCC is now Duddha @ Suria KLCC. Colourful, bold, Duddha opened its doors recently on 11th January 2017 at the al- fresco dining strip of the iconic KLCC. I was there to savour their food, and it is indeed really unique, with bold flavours and creative combinations. Check out what we had that afternoon below.

With comic-inspired characters, neon accents and a playful twist on tradition, look forward to food presentation that just as creative and inventive as the interiors, like the Crispy Chicken Bone with Nan Ru (Fermented Bean Curd) that comes in a bucket inspired by a globally famous fast food chain of fried chicken.

Deconstructed Tofu - RM26 |
We kicked off our meal with Duddha's Deconstructed Tofu, which comes in oyster sauce, homemade chicken floss, pickled cabbage, garlic and daikon water. I actually liked it, as you get to taste each ingredient in its essence, unlike your usual tofu dish.

Wagyu Beef Tartare - RM78 |
A delicacy in itself, the Wagyu Beef Tartare is one of my personal favourite starter off their cold bites menu. The wagyu beef itself tasted exquisite, watermelon on top, served with pickled cucumber, pickled shallots and papadum on the side. By using wagyu beef, we were promised of tenderness and texture beyond compare. Yum indeed.

Hamachi Tartare with Avocado |
Another very Asian dish, yet unlike any other I've tasted, we tried Duddha's Hamachi Tartare with Avocado, which comes in a small package filled with brown coconut, pickled ginger, pickled ginger flower and sea grapes. Lovely.

5 Spice Lamb Ribs with Apricot Ginger |
Now I couldn't get enough of the 5 Spice Lamb Ribs with Apricot Ginger which comes in these mini tubes ready to be served. The lamb ribs were really flavourful, not unlike the ones we get at Chinese asian restaurants, and coupled with the sauce, this comes off as a pretty good small bite dish.

Carbon Battered Lemon Sole with Smoked Garlic Mayo & Calamansi - RM34 |

Inside the batter, you get the sole fish |
One of a kind, it was my first time tasting a dish akin to this one. Don't be alarmed by the dark black colour of the Carbon Battered Lemon Sole with Smoked Garlic Mayo & Calamansi dish. One bite into it, and I didn't really notice the carbon, but instead indulged in the tasty fish texture inside.

48 Hours Wagyu Beef Cheek Rendang with Puffed Rice & Crispy Herbs - RM79 |
More Wagyu beef? Yes please. This time, it is a dish that took 48 hours to prepare, the 48 Hours Wagyu Beef Cheek Rendang with Puffed Rice & Crispy Herbs. You cannot imagine how tender the beef cheek felt when it broke apart easily with a fork, and tasted heavenly in the mouth. The rendang flavours were really light, which did not overpower the taste and flavour of the wagyu beef cheek. Served with crispy puffed rice and herbs, my only complain was I did not have more of this.

Wagyu Beef Char Siew - RM82 |
A char siew dish with a twist, go for the Wagyu Beef Char Siew. This dish comes highly recommended, and rightly so, as it went really well with our Asian palette. The dish comes with pickled papaya, homemade chilli sauce, and charred spring onions.

Green Curry Saltwater Barramundi - RM30 |
Fish lovers would do good to order Duddha's Green Curry Saltwater Barramundi with coconut, bone marrow rice, and pomelo salad. Each of the dishes at Duddha is familiar, yet the ingredients and method of presentation is way out of the ordinary. The menu was created by Chef Jet with an emphasis on bold flavours, textures and mind- blowing combinations.
