From my understanding, the brought in the concept from Hong Kong and China, bringing healthy steamed seafood straight to our table. Gone are the days where the chef will prepare food in the kitchen, now you get to see it steamed right in front of you!
This Chinese New Year, they are offering 3 different set menus, starting from RM638.80++ for 6pax up to RM1688.80 for the highest one up to 10pax. That evening, we tried out their mid tier set, Set Menu B which is priced at RM1088.80 for 10pax. We kicked off with the very special Kungfu Steam Seafood’s Fruity Lou Sang.

Passion fruit syrup is used instead of the normal plum sauce.
We kicked off our delectable meal at Kungfu Steam Seafood with their very interesting Fruity Lou Sang. What's inside? It's a mix of Jackfruit, water apple, dragonfruit, pomegranate, grapes, orange segments, apple, dried raisins, dried citrus peel, almonds, pumpkin seeds and sesame seed, being drizzled with passion fruit syrup before being tossed for prosperity. How refreshing.
I found it really interesting how the food is steamed. In the middle of our table is the special steamer with digital control. Fresh seafood is served before each of it is being steamed inside the steamer in front of us. Each dish is cooked with care, to ensure the seafood is cooked just right, not under nor overcooked. Have the food on its own, or you could have it with the various sauces that Kungfu Steam Seafood provide.
Let the Steaming Begin!
Ingredients to prepare the Scallop Chicken Soup
We chose the Signature Seafood Crab Porridge to be had at the end of our meal
Our Chinese New Year Set menu B offers many courses of both meat and seafood. Choose from having either Scallop Chicken Soup or Signature Seafood Crab Porridge. They actually placed the seafood crab porridge at the bottom of the pot. What happens is that when the night progresses on, as our seafood is being steamed on top, the juices drip down into the porridge at the bottom, ensuring we get the best flavoured Signature Seafood Crab Porridge at the end of our meal! Watch out for it.
Raw Canadian Oysters to kick start our meal
Clams, before being steamed
There are just so many sauces to choose from
Watch how beautiful the clams look when cooked
Live clams were steamed first, going on the steamer for just 3 minutes and we have beautiful yummy clams to kick start our seafood feast. There's a whole lot of sauces to choose from as well, to dip our seafood in, ranging from mildly spicy , to the very spicy sauces.
Tiger Prawns & French Mud Crab
Fresh Tiger Prawns before being steamed
Can you see and smell how good it looks?
French Mud Crab going on the steamer
Two delicious seafood cuisine came one after the other, namely the steamed Tiger Prawn and the wonderful French Mud Crab. Lovely indeed, both when steamed turned a nice shade of red and tasted oh so good. The flesh is indeed tender and sweet because they are so fresh. They look as good as they tasted!
Herbs Steamed Chicken
King Tiger Grouper
Up next, we had the Herbs Steamed Chicken and King Tiger Grouper. The chicken is prepared with Chinese herbs, ginger, red dates, wolfberries and spring onions. As for the Tiger Grouper, it was caught live just before being cut and steamed, ensuring its freshness. Freshly steamed, the flesh of the fish is so sweet, a really healthy dish indeed.
‘Tau Miu’ in Smoked Duck with Vege
We always need our greens, and what healthier ones than these ‘Tau Miu’ in Smoked Duck with Vege. Loved how the smoked duck tasted, giving that slight sinful edge to an otherwise really clean and healthy dish.
Garlic Chicken Slice Ramen
I didn't know steamed ramen can taste so good. We had the Garlic Chicken Slice Ramen which is steamed together with some chicken bits, long cabbage, baby corn and Shimeji mushrooms and wolfberries. It did not look as good as it tastes I tell you.
Signature Seafood Crab Porridge
Before our meal started we placed these at the bottom of the pot
Look how beautiful our Signature Seafood Crab Porridge turned out at the end of our meal!
After all that yummy seafood meal, it's time for us to check on our Signature Seafood Crab Porridge which we placed in the bottom of the pot at the beginning of the meal, remember? With all the juices dripping down from the prawns, crabs, fish, and chicken, you know it's bound to be tasty. Well, it is indeed tasty, coming out thick and creamy. Lovely end to our steaming session.
