DOUTOR Coffee, Fresh Quality Coffee @ Sunway Velocity Mall
A coffee cafe chain from Osaka, Japan? Wow, now they have come to Malaysia, a brand famed for their coffee. I haven't personally tried the ones in Japan, but from what I gathered from friends, this Doutor Coffee brand is pretty popular and huge there. We checked out their branch in Malaysia, at Sunway Velocity Mall recently, so do have a look what we savoured there.

A brief History on Doutor
First established as a coffee roasting plant that roasted quality coffee beans from around the world, on April 18 1980, Doutor opened its first European styled cafe in Harajuku, Japan. Good quality beans coupled with an excellent customer service, Doutor now has over 1200 outlets throughout the world!

DOUTOR Malaysia follows the '3 Fresh' philosophy - freshly roasted, freshly ground and freshly brewed. Designed to cater to the different Malaysian taste buds, they have a beverage menu that not only offers Espresso-based coffee, mixed blends and hand-brewed coffee of single origin, they have a wide variety of non-coffee beverages for non-coffee drinkers. Hot food choices are prepared fresh upon order, inspired by Japanese elements and ingredients.

For this coming Chinese New Year, DOUTOR Coffee introduced 2 new items, one the Frozen Red Velvet Mocha (with coffee) and the almost similar but different, Frozen Red Velvet Chocolate (without coffee). Interesting indeed, these beverage came bright red in colour.

Croffle
Pastries with ingredients imported all the way from France? Yes please. We got to try out their delectable food and pastries that day as well. What took me by surprise is their signature Croffle. Yes you heard that right, waffle shaped croissant! Sweet and crunchy on the top, with that nice croissant taste and fluff inside. Good stuff.

Two nice items in a row, we had the fluffy Chocolate Croissant with sweet chocolate filling as well as the Shrimp & Tuna Omu Wrap. What's inside? Shrimp, tuna, egg mayo, lettuce, tomato, onion, wasabi mayo and rice all wrapped up in a thin sheet of omelette egg. Pretty unique, definitely Japanese inspired wrap.

Sandwich lovers would do good to go for their Japanese fusion styled Teriyaki Chicken & Tamago Sandwich. It comes with lots of Teriyaki chicken, egg mayo, lettuce, tomato, and wasabi mayo inside. I do like the Tuna Cheddar Sandwich as well, a more traditional type of sandwich which is yummy indeed.

For hot, savoury fares, do order DOUTOR's Mentai Shrimp Pasta or their delightful Ratatouille Doria. Ratatouille Doria is a dish full of mixed vegetables like capsicum, cucumbers, eggplants, and onions plus sesame rice at the base baked in tomato sauce. I found the Mentai Shrimp Pasta to be a bit heavy on the seafood smell and taste though.

We ended our meal at DOUTOR Coffee Malaysia @ Sunway Velocity Mall with some sweet Creme Brulee Mille Crepe and Matcha Green Tea Mille Crepe. These mille crepes go really well with their coffee, so be sure to order them when you're there! DOUTOR Coffee has other branches at AEON Bukit Tinggi, Klang and AEON Mall Tebrau City, Johor.
