Now here's a shoutout to an upcoming event happening this Wednesday, the 18th of May 2016. It involves a bunch of super active bloggers running around KL, all in the name of loving food and hating waste. As a proactive measure with the upcoming Ramadhan and fasting season this June, Alam Flora Sdn Bhd (Alam Flora) has initiated a Love Food Hate Waste campaign involving 16 prominent lifestyle and food bloggers. I'm excited for the event, but first let's go through what the whole campaign entails.

In essence, the #LOVEFOODHATEWASTE campaign is organised by the national waste disposal company, Alam Flora Sdn Bhd as part of their awareness programme to reduce food wastage in Malaysia. According to Alam Flora chief executive officer Mohd Zain Hassan about 15,000 tonnes of 33,000 tonnes of wastage is a result of food waste, and 60% from the food wastage is avoidable by knowing the right way to store, plan and portion the household’s usage.

Supporting the cause, making sure my plate is "clean" after a meal. |
“Social media has been recognised as a very effective tool to spread positive messages to the public. Alam Flora has chosen to leverage on this useful platform in making Love Food Hate Waste campaign viral, thus reducing food wastage that can potentially end up in our landfills. The success of reducing food wastage requires participation and effort from all levels of society, we hope to make a difference in our environment by organising this kind of event from time to time,” said Mohd Zain.
I do believe and support the cause, as it is imperative that we do not waste our food. Our food get wasted when we throw it away, either because we prepared too much of it, or when it expire due to us not using it in time. This is really bad for the environment, so let's do our part in saving Mother Earth yes?
All 16 bloggers are competing for a chance to win prizes worth up to RM4,000 in cash and vouchers with their best posts on various social media platforms. This means you must look out for my social media postings on Instagram and Facebook, and do support me! :)
Wah, plate so clean. Good for you, tummy happy & saving Mother Earth. :-)
