Kyung Joo Korean Restaurant @ Mid Valley Megamall

Now I do love Korean cuisine, especially the barbecued kind, and it was with delight that I dined over at Kyung Joo Korean Restaurant @ Mid Valley Megamall. Located at a very strategic corner of Midvalley Megamall, on the same floor as GSC Cinema, it will definately be worth your time to check them out for some Korean delicacies. Check out what we had that afternoon.

Established in year 1998, Kyung Joo Korean Restaurant opened their first outlet in Midvalley, with subsequent outlets opened up across Klang Valley after that. They feature a range of delightful modern Korean cuisine, coupled with high standards of service.

Dig into Kyung Joo’s menu which includes Korean Barbecue, Dakgalbi, Toasted Rice Ball, Budae Jjigae, Bibimbap, Korean Noodles, Fried Grilled Fish, Korean Pancake and etc.

Passion Mojito (RM14.80)
Passion Mojito (RM14.80)

A refreshing glass of Passion Mojito was served first, with a mix of Korean Jinro Shoju inside. It did whet our appetite for all the meat to come. On top of mojito, Kyung Joo do serve other Korean traditional drinks from ginseng tea, fruit enzyme concentrate, rice wine, Jinro shoju, to plum wine, Hite beer and much more.

A variety of banchan, refillable

As the norm when dining at any Korean restaurant, we were served with Banchan, those small appetizers that come in a minimum of 6 small bowls. Kyung Joo serves up a mix of appetizers ranging from kimchi, mashed potatoes, marinated vegetables, pickled radish, black beans to pineapples. They are refillable, but don't fill up too much, as the meaty dishes to follow is bound to satisfy even more.

We had their signature Bulgogi, which literally means fire meat in Korean. Grilled marinated meat, what more can I ask for. These thin slices of prime cuts beef are marinated before being grilled in front of us. Yummy.

Kyung Joo offers diners a selection of 8 flavors for BBQ beef, including black pepper, spicy sauce, ginseng, honey, kimchi, black sauce, garlic, miso, which priced at RM17.80 each. Diners will get passion fruit salad for free when order any of the 4 flavors BBQ beef.

Besides BBQ beef, Kyung Joo also serves 8 flavors BBQ pork at the price of RM15.80 each, which is available in spicy sauce, ginseng, honey, kimchi, black sauce, garlic, black pepper and miso.

Bibimbap (RM 19.80/ RM 20.80)
Bibimbap (RM 19.80/ RM 20.80)

We were served with another signature Korean dish, the delectable "mix rice" from Korea, Bibimbap. A bowl of rice mixed with meat and assorted vegetables, gochhujang (chili pepper paste), soy sauce, or doenjang, Kyung Joo offers 3 types of Bibimbap, vegetables, Chicken and Beef. Topped with raw egg in the middle, the way to eat this dish is to mix it all well together, and dig into it while its piping hot.

Flavourful, smells and tastes real good.

One of my favourite dish at Kyung Joo would be their Dal-galbi chicken with ramen dish. Another popular Korean signature dish, it consists of spicy boneless chicken, stir fried with chewy rice cakes, ramen, and vegetables. We do not have to cook these ourselves, as the good staff from Kyung Joo will toss and cook it in front of you. Yummy stuff.

Now I'm not the biggest fan of kimchi, be it the sauce, or the real thing, so when this dish was brought out I was shocked at how big the homemade kimchi was. It's amazing they could fit in such a big piece into the dish. Introducing Kyung Joo's Kimchi Jun Gol, served with yummy pork slices and vegetables, left to simmer until the flavours are all soaked in.

Do remember to drop by Kyung Joo Korean Restaurant @ Mid Valley Megamall the next time you're there shopping with friends or family and have a sudden urge to taste good Korean cuisine.
