Nasi Lemak Kukus Tradisi @ Pholio Cafe, Mutiara Damansara
A rather new cafe has opened up in the vicinity of Mutiara Damansara. Pholio Cafe's the name, with a sports themed interior, serving one of the nicer nasi lemak kukus tradisi on their menu, on top of other western fares. I was there the other day to savour their offerings, and it was pretty good. Check out what we had below.

Selangor football greats |
Entering Pholio Cafe, we were greeted by football jerseys, some contemporary decor with a comfy ambiance. I was told the co-owners of this cafe happens to be one of the Selangor football greats, Shahril Arsat, hence the football themed decor. The tables and chairs outside the cafe is made of oil drums and wood, something we don't see often. The decoration inside the cafe is was filled with football paraphernalia, trophies, and books.

Must-try at Pholio Cafe would be their Nasi Lemak Kukus Tradisi |
We were recommended to try Pholio Cafe's specialty dish that afternoon, the Nasi Lemak Kukus Tradisi. A traditional recipe, the rice used have been soaked in coconut milk for hours before steamed for another couple of hours, resulting in soft, fluffy and fragrant rice that is not sticky at all. We could feel the hard work being put into each dish.
Nasi Lemak Kukus Tradisi - RM6.90 |
Spot the nasi lemak |
The dish came with its accompanied fiery hot sambal and one generous piece of deep fried chicken. Love the sambal, which I couldn't have enough of, and somehow I feel they should have provided more. The chicken itself is nicely marinated with herbs and spices, being crunchy on the outside, yet juicy and succulent inside. Great stuff here.
Grilled Chicken Chop - RM18.90 |
Pholio Cafe has rather limited choice, as they have just opened, but their western fares makes up the bulk of their offerings. We tried out the Grilled Chicken Chop, and it was surprisingly delicious. The dish was served on a rather large plate with fries (I was told normally there will be potato wedges instead), coleslaw and baked vegetables. Choose from either black pepper sauce or mushroom sauce and indulge in the very tasty, well flavoured grilled chicken thigh. Another highly recommended dish.
Grilled Chicken Sandwich Wrap - RM8.90 |
For those who prefer healthier options, Pholio Cafe offers Sandwich Wraps with a variety of flavours from spicy tuna, grilled chicken, turkey ham, steak to grilled chicken breast. We tried it, choosing the tortilla bread from a choice of wholemeal, croissant and tortilla wrap. Not bad, served with fries on the side.
Spicy Seafood Aglio Pho-lio - RM18.90 |
Yummy pasta dishes at Pholio Cafe |
Those looking for pasta dishes won't be disappointed with Pholio Cafe's offerings. We tried out their Spicy Seafood Olio Pho-lio that day, and it did not disappoint. Generous amount of seafood were to be found, atop some delectable spaghetti, nicely flavoured. On top of all these savoury dishes, Pholio Cafe served some really nice Mocha Frappucino and drinks too, so the next time you're in the vicinity of Mutiara Damansara, do remember to drop by Pholio Cafe for a good meal with friends and family!
Of course, for me, it has to be the nasi lemak kukus. Malaysia boleh! :D
