Shopee Malaysia - The Mobile Marketplace

Everyone has that extra freebie, gadget, or that piece of camera laying in the drawer, not being used anymore. Have you ever thought of selling those items, making a quick buck out from it? Now I have lots of unused items laying around, some even new and unopened, hence when I found out about the Shopee Malaysia mobile application, and how easy it is to post and sell our items there, I was elated.

Frankly speaking, I've heard of other mobile apps, and sites which enable us to buy and sell our stuff online, but I have not really explored further. The main reason would be the hassle and time taken to post one item, with so many forms to fill, or the site just won't work properly. All that ended when I discovered the Shopee mobile marketplace app, where I could post my items to sell, or buy anything in less than 30secs. It's effective, and really easy and fast.

Available on the Apple App Store, and android's Google Play, the app can be downloaded on virtually every smartphone available in the market. Just do a quick search (on my side I searched on the app store as I'm on the iPhone) for "Shopee Malaysia" and you might just be on your way to be the top salesman you need to get that $$ you've always wanted.

There are multiple ways to sign up in the Shopee Malaysia app, either with your email, mobile number, or social media Facebook / Twitter. I chose my mobile, as being a seller, I want the buyer to be able to communicate with me effectively to close the sales ASAP. 

So what exactly is Shopee?

Shopee is a mobile marketplace designed for both buyers and sellers to enjoy fast, smooth and safe transactions. With their in-app functions, we can easily turn your clutter into cash and share the fun with your friends! Plus, Shopee Guarantee ensures that the seller ships only after the buyer has paid, and the buyer’s payment is transferred to the seller only after receiving the product. They aim to create a simple and secure mobile marketplace for everyone to buy and sell, anytime, anywhere.

I did not waste any time to dig through my drawers and cabinets for any items worth selling. My first impression of the app was that it's so simple to use. Just snap a picture of the item, add in the name and pricing, or maybe some details if you must, upload it and you're done! They have an option to use one of your Instagram photos too, which is really convenient as I always post pictures on my Instagram (@isaactanjs) and getting the pictures from there is just so convenient.

The picture above is a snapshot of my iPhone's screen, where it really just takes 30 seconds or less to snap your photos, upload it, choose the relevant category and submit. Submission of your items is immediate, which I like, as compared to some other sites or apps which need approval, and that might range from a couple of hours to days, the horrors.

One of the perks of using Shopee Malaysia would be the fact that it is FREE for all to use. Yes you've heard that right, not only is the mobile application free to download for all smartphone users (Android and iOS), Shopee does not charge in anyway. It is a platform for sellers to explore without having the concerns of payment. They do not charge any commission or payments for any of our sales on Shopee Malaysia. That's a big plus point in my books.

The Shopee Malaysia app has these unique function called the 'Chat' function, where conversation is kept within the app and personal between seller and buyer. This does not require the seller to expose their personal contact details to the buyer. Personally I don't mind exposing my phone number, but I understand how for some ladies it may pose a safety concern to do that. Great privacy aspect looked at by the folks from Shopee.

Paying for items bought via Shopee Malaysia's mobile app is easy and secure. All payments can be made via credit card and online banking, cutting out the hassle of having to go to the nearest machine to make payment. Sellers can also avoid the hassle of having to cross check all bank transfer/payment made via credit card or online banking for their items as Shopee will do all the matching to ensure all payment is correct.

Another nice feature I found to be of particularly good value would be the fact we can connect most of our social media networks.
