Sunday Pintxos and Paella @ La Bodega, The Shore Shopping Gallery Melaka

It was during my last trip to Melaka for The Shore Shopping Gallery Melaka's grand launch that the bunch of us dropped by La Bodega to savour some of their Pintxos and Paella. Happening every Sunday afternoon at La Bodega Telawi Bangsar and The Shore Malacca, customers can snack and nibble on a spread of over 30 types of pintxos from RM4.25 onwards! Check out some of those that we had that afternoon.

La Bodega is a Spanish-style Tapas Bar serving an extensive menu of traditional Spanish cuisine and a wide array of fine wines and spirits. The first La Bodega has been serving the Kuala Lumpur restaurant scene since 1999.

Paella is a Valencian rice dish with ancient roots that originated in its modern form in the mid-nineteenth century. Traditionally, paella is prepared on Sunday because women need a day off from cooking hence it is usually cooked by the men. Calasparra, a low-starch and short-grain rice, is the best rice to cook paella because it is fluffy and can absorb the flavorful gravy very well.

Popular amongst KL-ites for an authentic menu of fresh seafood paellas, a hearty selection of hot and cold tapas, and of course the famous La Bodega breakfast fare. An exciting addition to the kitchen in Malacca is a traditionally Spanish charcoal-fired Josper oven. We eagerly look forward to the delicacies that our Catalan chef will be adding to the menu.

Served in individual bite-sized portion, pintxos is a common Spanish snack that typically eaten in bars, with small slice of bread topped with mixture of ingredients and skewered with a toothpick. The toothpick is used to keep ingredients from falling off the bread, as well as to keep track of the number of items that the customer has eaten. Sometimes, differently priced pintxos have toothpicks of different shapes or sizes.
