Platter Houz Western Fusion Restaurant @ USJ 19 City Mall, Subang Jaya

Platter Houz Restaurant, serving some nice western fusion cuisine in a very comfy western rustic setting in USJ 19 City Mall was our place of choice last week for a nice dinner with fellow foodie and friends. It's location itself at the front of the mall makes it hard to miss, with bright signage and inviting decor. Check out what we had that evening below.

Dine in comfort
Dine in comfort

Arriving at Platter Houz Restaurant just in time for dinner, it did not take long before we were seated and dinner was served. I must say I like the decor, as they did take effort to make it homely, yet having that western restaurant feel. They served western fusion dishes, meaning there's a mix of western fares and dishes which have some eastern elements thrown in, which was exactly what we had that evening.

Chicken Chowder - RM13.90
Chicken Chowder - RM13.90

We kicked off our feast that night with some Chicken Chowder, followed closely with the delectable yet healthy Smoked Duck Breast Salad. The Chicken Chowder served is a blend of carrot, corn and chicken in a cream based soup, something my kid would enjoy immensely. I loved the slices of smoked duck, which had that nice smokey flavour without being too hard nor chewy. Served with fresh vegetables and crouton, cucumber, cherry tomato, onion, lettuce, cheese powder, balsamic vinegar and baco chips, it really whets your appetite for the heavier dishes to come.

Dancing Fish with Rice - RM25.90
Dancing Fish with Rice - RM25.90

No, the fish does not dance on your plate, but the Dancing Fish with Rice that was served next had the crispy fried whole Tilapia Fish strung up looking all tasty and crunchy. Served with buttered rice and the chef's 3S special sauce, I like how the rice and sauce complements the fried fish, bringing out its flavours. You could literally eat the whole fish as its deep fried to a crisp!

MZ Chicken - RM26.90
MZ Chicken - RM26.90

Another deep fried dish, the MZ Chicken consists of a rather generous serving of tender and juicy piece of crumbed pan fried chicken with cheesy and creamy sauce. Doused in a sauce that is infused with local indian spice, you know it's one of a kind the moment you try it. This dish comes with salad and wedges on the side.

Sea Of Love - RM49.90

A huge platter of seafood stuff came next. Aptly named the Sea Of Love, it's a combination of deep fried butter fish, slipper lobster, baked scallop and cheese baked oysters, served with potato and vegetables. I'm not a fan of oysters, but the rest of the noms on these tasted good. I personally liked the way they baked the scallops with cheese on top.

It was a feast for the sight and senses too when the Grilled French Lamb Rack was served. Flamed with rum with flames shooting upwards a couple of feet, the end result does look and taste awesome. NZ French lamb rack is used, perfectly grilled with rum, served with butter sauteed vegetables and baked jacket potatoes. We got a choice of either mushroom sauce, black pepper sauce or red wine sauce.

Aglio Olio - RM22.90
Aglio Olio - RM22.90

A good Aglio Olio, at least to me is neither too oily nor too dry, with spiciness bringing out that flavour of the whole dish. At Platter Houz Restaurant they serve their Aglio Olio pasta with roasted garlic, dry chilies, English parsley and fresh king prawns. It's a good thing the prawns are fresh, as the last thing you need is mushy stale tasting seafood on a bed of yummy pasta.

We ended our lovely meal out at Platter Houze Western Fusion Restaurant in USJ 19 City Mall with a whole variety of sweet desserts, consisting of their marble cheese cake, opera cake, strawberry meringue, chocolate caramel, and tiramisu. Yummy stuff. Do try out their dishes, cakes and desserts the next time your in the vicinity!

  1. Dancing Fish is here too? One in Bangsar, right? Hmmm...must try and fry my tilapia that way next time. I think the western looks better. That red cloth sticks out like a sore thumb in a place like this.
