A Jasmine Basmathi Rice Affair @ Fuzio Bar & Restaurant Kuala Lumpur

It was a Jasmine Pusa Gold 1121 Basmathi Rice affair the other day, when we were invited for a nice Italian cuisine diner over at Fuzio Bar & Restaurant Kuala Lumpur. The Italian bar and restaurant had taken the extra mile to prepare a variety of rice themed dishes, using Jasmine's Pusa Gold Basmathi Extra Long Rice. I was amazed by their creativity to incorporate this specific rice brand into their delectable dishes. Read on below on what we had that night.

Introducing the star of the day, the Jasmine's Pusa Gold 1121 Basmathi Extra Long Rice

Using the Jasmine's Pusa Gold 1121 Basmathi Extra Long Rice, Fuzio Bar & Restaurant Kuala Lumpur managed to whip up for us variations of their menu dishes, which came out not only presentable, it was delicious to boot! It was an Italian affair that night, and using the Jasmine rice, we knew we had the best rice out in the market.

#1 Arancini (Rice Ball)
#1 Arancini (Rice Ball)

To kick start our meal, we were served with bread sticks and soft warm bread with the virgin olive oil and vinegar with balsamic sauce dipping with some wine on the side. It did not take long before our first appetizer dish appeared on the table, an Italian snack named Arancini or Rice Balls as I refer it as.The "rice ball" is coated in golden crumbs, crispy on the outside, with light fragrant glassy rice inside. I was told usually risotto is used, but this time the dish was prepared with Basmathi extra long rice. I do love the yummy mozzarella cheese inside!

#2 Angus Beef Tenderloin
#2 Angus Beef Tenderloin

Cutting to the chase, up next was one of my favourite all time dishes, the Angus Beef Tenderloin. I've always loved a good slab of tenderloin steak, and here at Fuzio, they whipped up a deliciously tender and juicy one for us. Served with Basmathi extra long rice, they did go well together, with the flavours from the tenderloin complementing the lemongrass flavoured rice. Wrapped inside a cute pouch, they had these delectable mushroom sauce to go with the dish.

#3 Braised Lamb Shank
#3 Braised Lamb Shank

Lamb shank lovers rejoice! The Braised Lamb Shank which was served next looked every bit as good as it tasted. Prepared and braised with aromatic vegetables, red wine and tomatoes, the lamb shank was served with Basmathi rice on the side. Usually Porcini Risotto would be used, but this time around they tried with Basmathi which had a sticky fragrant texture to it.

An explosion of seafood flavours in the mouth, the Marinara in White Wine Sauce was served with steamed Basmathi extra long rice. The prawns and seafood inside the white wine infused soup went pretty well with the rice, albeit the rice being a tad too dry. They served it in a rather cute capsicum.

#5 Baked Cod Fish
#5 Baked Cod Fish

I've always said, a great Baked Cod Fish will be prepared with a huge chunk of fresh cod fish, which will flake apart the moment you touch it. Here at Fuzio, they did it perfectly, just the way I like it, nicely doused in teriyaki sauce. The dish was served with fresh young papaya salad on top, and Basmathi rice below.

#6 Spring Chicken

For the next dish, a whole piece of young spring chicken was used, which is one of the main courses available at Fuzio. Again, usually it's stuffed with risotto, as that's the Italian way, but substitute it with the delectable Jasmine Basmathi Rice, and you have a totally different flavour to it. I found the rice was soft and moist, soaking up the essence of the chicken and Porcini (mushroom).

#7 Spicy Oxtail Soup
#7 Spicy Oxtail Soup

A meal on its own, the Spicy Oxtail Soup came with rice on the side. Personally I'm not a big fan of oxtails, but they are really soft and complemented the rice very well. Interestingly, this was the same rice served with my favourite beef tenderloin earlier.

#8 Dessert - Mango Crisp
#8 Dessert - Mango Crisp

We ended the meal at Fuzio Bar & Restaurant Kuala Lumpur with what I initially thought looked like a variation of the mango sticky rice, but with the mango being deep fried to a crisp. I actually like this dish as a dessert, drizzled with strawberry sauce, the crunchy nuts and rice based crust took it to a whole new level. Yummy stuff, sweet and savoury, the perfect end to a great night out with friends.

I even took the chance to check out Fuzio's rooftop section which is pretty cool
