New Zealand Natural New Cafe Concept

Did you know New Zealand Natural isn't all about ice-cream, but more of a cafe concept serving some nifty yummy delights on top of their signature ice creams? I was at their outlet in the curve recently, and my, it was a vast difference from the previous one kiosk concept which they previously had.

So the story as seen from their offical website was that in 1984 New Zealand Natural was born in Christchurch, New Zealand. Today, not only is NZN one of the leading ice cream brands in New Zealand and Australia, they are also represented in many other countries around the world, including Malaysia.

Arriving at the New Zealand Natural outlet in The Curve, it was indeed different from my expectation of just a kiosk with a couple of high chairs at the side. They have come up with a new cafe style concept, complete with sofas, and comfy table and chairs, all brightly lit and cheery looking. Per my understanding from the good folks from NZN, the idea is to let their diners dine in a relaxing and comfortable environment.

At the counter itself, we were spoilt for choice with 28 flavours Apart from the classic vanilla and crowd's favourite chocolate, there were the more unique and yummy flavours such as Hokey Pokey, Rum & Raisin, Creme de Coconut and Affogato.

#1 Brownie Temptation - RM14.90
#1 Brownie Temptation - RM14.90

The Brownie Temptation that was served that afternoon caught my attention from both it's colourful looks and sweet ingredients. Under all that crunchy walnuts and Walnut butterscotch ice cream is the moist and delicious classic brownie. I wouldn't mind having second servings of this sinful dessert from New Zealand Natural.

#2 Waffle Dazzle - RM9.90
#2 Waffle Dazzle - RM9.90

We had another almost similar but with a slight difference in the Waffle Dazzle next. It's a dessert combining savoury flavours from the crispy golden Belgian waffle and the sweet flavours from the ice cream and condiments. I just love how they shower everything with lots of almond and chocolate sauce.

#3 Croissant - RM2

Along with the new cafe concept, New Zealand Natural introduced it's range of freshly baked pastries, with doughnuts, puffs, muffins and cookies on their menu. The price isn't exorbitant too, affordably priced from RM2 to RM6. Shown above were their Croissant, which were fluffy and soft, going well with NZN's drinks.

#4 Baked Sardine Puff - RM3.90
#4 Baked Sardine Puff - RM3.90

The Baked Sardine Puff came looking rather pretty. The fillings were flavourful, going well with the flaky puff. Light, yet satisfying, it was a good thing New Zealand Natural served these pastries on top of their signature ice creams and desserts.

#5 Chunky Double Chocolate Cookie - RM4.50, Oatmeal Cinnamon Raisin Cookie - RM4.50

Hey, there are cookies too! Perfect to be taken with the desserts and ice cream, the Chunky Double Chocolate Cookie had to be my favourite that afternoon. Crunchy yet not hard, breaking apart the moment you put into your mouth, it was rather filling though.

#6 Double Affogato - RM11.90

Coffee lovers might like the drinks from New Zealand Natural too, with the Double Affogato being classic hot espresso topped with a scoop of affogato ice cream and dark chocolate waffle stick. Love the ice-cream, which goes well with the classic hot espresso.

  1. Tried one in Singapore many many years ago, one of those NZ "healthy" ones - I did not finish the cone. I loved their local own-made ice cream when I was there though...including those in the strawberry farms...and also their Kapiti. Hope to try this one to see if it is anything worth shouting about - prices look more reasonable than "those brands"...paying for the snob appeal.

  2. best thing is they have rum & raisin!

  3. We were served appetizers that were all very good - from flatbread thin pizzas to sliders that were larger than average and were cut in halves.
