Bad Boy Cooks @ SetiaWalk Puchong

It was a feast of sorts the other day when I was at Bad Boy Cooks in SetiaWalk Puchong. We had nearly 20 dishes among the eight of us foodies. Thinking back, I am still amazed at the fact I sampled nearly all the dishes on the table. I have previously tried out their other branch at Oasis Ara Damansara (Bad Boy Cooks @ Oasis Ara Damansara), and it did satisfy my taste buds. Check out below on my rather lengthy review on the feast we had the other day.

#1 Bad Boy Mash - RM4
#1 Bad Boy Mash - RM4

Kicking off the meal were these appetizer snacks, the first being the Bad Boy Mash, smooth whipped potatoes with lots of minced meat on top. Now I'm not a big fan of mashed potatoes, but this tasted reasonably well, probably due to the sauces from the minced meat, and the fact the potatoes itself was lightly flavoured.

#2 Chili Nachos - RM6
#2 Chili Nachos - RM6

Nachos goes well as an appetizer for most meals. Here at Bad Boy Cooks, they serve these rather rich Chili Nachos, with generous amounts of chili beef and cheese spread on top of the crunchy nachos. It did well to whet our appetite for the feast to come.

#3 Chili Fries - RM6

Almost similar to the chili nachos, the Chili Fries had the same ingredients minus the cheese sauce. Perfect for those who prefer fries to nachos. The fries itself isn't your usual thin strips, served in these fat chunky size.

#4 Bad Boy Wings - RM6

Given a choice, I would choose this appetizer over the rest, probably because the extremely spicy sauce makes up for a very nice Bad Boy Wings. Deep fried to a crisp, the spiciness may be a turn off for some, but for me, I'm loving it.

#5 Tempura Mushrooms - RM5

Oyster mushrooms were used to prepare Bad Boy Cooks' Tempura Mushrooms. Another one of their signature appetizers, deep fried in light tempura, it was a simple yet 'healthy' snack to kick off any meal at the restaurant.

#6 Bad Boy Caesar Salad - RM8

#7 Bad Boy Eggy Tuna Salad - RM8

I've had my favourite Caesar's salad over at other eateries, hence I am always comparing the differences when I dine elsewhere. Here at Bad Boy Cooks, it was nice to note their Bad Boy Caesar had loads of beef bacon strips, one of the must have ingredients for me. Yes, I'm not a vegetable person if you have read my previous reviews. The Bad Boy Eggy Tuna Salad was a refreshing change form the usual classic salad, with mixed green salad leaves, chunky tuna and hard boiled eggs to tickle your taste buds.

#8 Chili Olio with Egg - RM8

#9 Al funghi with Beef Bacon - RM9
#9 Al funghi with Beef Bacon - RM9

It's nice to see the spaghetti and pasta dishes to be rather reasonably priced below RM10, with the Chili Olio with Egg going for RM8, and the Al funghi with Beef Bacon at RM9. The Chili Olio was another spicy dish, having the same spice level as the chili chicken wings. It was good though, without being too oily, and had that springy texture to it, complemented by the egg. As for the Al funghi with beef bacon, I like the bacon. Bad Boy Cooks do make nice beef bacons.

#10 Slaw Dog - RM9
#10 Slaw Dog - RM9

Hot dogs anybody? Bad Boy Cooks named their hot dogs as Slaw Dogs, named after the wasabi coleslaw filling the insides of the bun. Chicken sausage, topped with lots of sauce and cheese, accompanied by thick fries, this would make the perfect rainy day meal.

#11 Cajun Chicken - RM12

#13 Beef Patty & Mash - RM13
#13 Beef Patty & Mash - RM13

Up next we had the grilled meat, coming in the form of the Cajun Chicken, Grilled Lamb, and the Beef Patty & Mash dishes. The Cajun chicken was rather nice, tender and flavourful, thanks to the Cajun sauces used. The grilled lamb shoulder slices were cooked well, without the strong lamb aftertaste. I personally do not really like the beef patty as I felt it was overdone, but the insides were okay though.

#14 Tempura Fish - RM10

#15 Grilled Fish - RM12

Bad Boy Cooks serves fish too, with a choice of either the Tempura Fish, or the Grilled Fish for the light eaters. However, do not take lightly the serving sizes, as even if it did look small, these two dishes were very filling. Using dory fish, it had a nice soft texture without the heavy fish aftertaste of other variants.

#16 Katsu Bowl - RM9
#16 Katsu Bowl - RM9

If you're feeling Japanese for the day, do try out their Katsu Bowl. Not unlike any other Japanese fusion dishes out there, we had the obligatory crunchy Katsu chicken served on top of some rice. I did not have much of this dish, as I felt the rice was a tad too dry.

#17 Sloppy BB Burger - RM13

#18 Fire Bird - RM9
#18 Fire Bird - RM9

The burgers from Bad Boy Cooks, both the Sloppy BB and the Fire Bird did not really tickle my fancy. The Fire Bird is basically a burger with chicken breast with spicy chili mayo, cheese, tomato and coleslaw, while the Sloppy BB had this very messy look consisting of a beef patty topped with double cheese and chili beef.

#19 Bad Boy Madness - RM19
#19 Bad Boy Madness - RM19

We ended our very filling and hearty dinner with their Bad Boy Madness, aptly named that due to it's generous and huge serving of 3 huge scoops of ice cream, bananas and cream, sprinkled with chocolate chips. Now I always love ice creams for dessert, and in this dish itself, we had three different flavoured ice cream inside, the chocolate brownies, cookie and ice cream and chocolate sauce & cream. Do check out Bad Boy Cooks at SetiaWalk Puchong if you're in the vicinity for some affordably priced western fusion cuisine.

  1. Gosh!!! Another active day, eh? How many posts have you had already?

The name sounds familiar - there's a blog by this name, right? Same guy? Or was it something similar, not the same? Old man, easily confused.

Food looks so-so but prices are very reasonable though, one plus point there...and what are those squirts? Mayo? No, thank you. Not too fond of that - hate it when they squirt that all over the chops or whatever at the shops. I think I would love the "madness" though my doctor would definitely disapprove. Hehehehehe!!!!
