Having had the chance to savor some really nice rice burgers outside of Malaysia, it's with great anticipation and eagerness when I heard of Sushi King's new japanese rice burgers offerings. Just last week, I had the chance to try out their unique and deliciously healthy Japanese rice burgers at the Sunway Pyramid branch.

The burgers came with soft grilled Japanese rice patties, which was a tad too soft for me, where I would have preferred it to be more crunchy on the outside. Sushi King served five different types of rice burgers with different fillings according to diners' preference.
#1 Yakiniku Rice Burger - RM7 each or RM13 in a set with pumpkin tempura and miso soup
Crispy pumpkin tempura, which comes with the set meal
My favourite rice burger that evening would be the yakiniku rice burger which came with succulent pan fried beef in between the rice patties, accompanied by fresh lettuce and mayonnaise. Each burger can either be ordered ala-carte for RM7 each or in a set consisting of the burger plus pumpkin tempura and miso soup (RM13). I do like my beef, and with the yakiniku rice burger, I could get my fix of teriyaki doused beef strips which went really well with the rice patties.
#2 Saba Teriyaki Rice Burger - RM10 each, or RM16 for the set
Saba lovers, would love the mouth watering Saba Teriyaki Rice burger. Sweet, juicy and grilled to perfection, the blend of mackerel with teriyaki sauce on the rice patties had a nice flavour and taste to it. It comes with lettuce and lots of teriyaki sauce for that sweet flavour. You have to try this, but wait, there is more to come, namely the salmon rice burger, up next.
#3 Salmon Wasabi Rice Burger - RM15 in a set with pumpkin tempura and miso soup
Salmon with wasabi toppings? If you love the extra kick, then go for the Salmon Wasabi Rice burger which is filled with juicy flame-grilled salmon belly, topped with wasabi and spicy sauce. The Salmon Wasabi Rice burger is a seasonal item, priced at RM9 each, or RM15 for the set.
#4 Chicken Katsu Rice Burger - RM6 each, or RM12 per set
Last but not least, if you are not a seafood lover, rest assure they have the relatively milder Chicken Katsu Rice Burger. Personally, for me it's nothing to shout about, with the usual chicken katsu being served in a rice burger. I do enjoy the crunchiness of the deep fried breaded chicken fillet, topped with lettuce and mayonnaise. So, the next time you're over at Sushi King, do try out their rice burgers!
