Mother's Day Dinner @ Sushi King All Season Place Penang

This year's Mother's Day was spent back in Penang, where I treated my mum and dad to a nice simple dinner over at Sushi King All Season Place. The eatery was a stone's throw away from the family home, and this time around we had baby Martin with us. Check out below on what we had that evening.

Dad and mum didn't get much chance to savor the dishes from Sushi King, as in my hometown Penang, the local dishes are way better, at least in my opinion. However, I made it a point to bring them over here to try out some japanese sushi. It's mother's day after all, so a nice dinner would be befitting for the occasion.

Baby Martin seemed to enjoy every minute out of the house, especially since this round he got to taste some sushi. We ordered the new rice burger to share, one which comes recommended, especially the Yakiniku Rice Burger below. 

Yakiniku Rice Burger - RM7 each or RM13 in a set with pumpkin tempura and miso soup

The yakiniku rice burger which came with succulent pan fried beef in between the rice patties, accompanied by fresh lettuce and mayonnaise. Each burger can either be ordered ala-carte for RM7 each or in a set consisting of the burger plus pumpkin tempura and miso soup (RM13). I do like my beef, and with the yakiniku rice burger, I could get my fix of teriyaki doused beef strips which went really well with the rice patties.

Katsuni Set

Yummy crispy katsu chicken, deep fried

We ordered the Katsuni Set Meal to share. Now I've tried this before where my brother Ivan introduced this delectable dish to me. The Katsuni set consist of deep fried chicken in special sauce served with sliced onions and egg. Served boiling hot, with a bowl of rice and miso soup at the side, I love this dish. It had a sweet savoury taste, with the sweetness you would expect from a teriyaki sauce. 

California Temaki (Hand Roll)

Soft Shell Crab Temaki (Hand Roll)

The Califonia Temaki and Soft Shell Crab Temaki wasn't much to shout about, just two of the usual suspects. These will be the hand rolls I would usually order every time I'm at Sushi King, as it is handy enough to hold in my hand while munching down on the rather crispy ingredients inside. Oh, plus I love soft shell crabs!

Golden Ball

The name of our next sushi dish was rather unique, Golden Ball. Unique but tasty, comprising of these deep fried egg stuffed with shredded crabstick. Good to munch on as a side order, being crispy on the outside and 'eggy' on the inside. The shredded crabstick with mayonnaise brought out the sweetness and added flavour to this dish. 

The sushi form of the California Temaki, the California Maki

Simple yet filling enough, the California Maki came with these lovely fish roe toppings, popping inside your mouth with each bite. Overall, it was a rather nice dinner affair over at Sushi King All Season Place Penang. It was a mother's day celebration after all, for my dear Mum, to appreciate all her love, and care all this years. Thank you mum, and here's to many many more Mother's Day and happy days ahead.
