Safe House (2012) Review
Just last night I had the opportunity to catch another movie premiere thanks to Nuffnang and ChurpChurp, this time for the movie Safe House starring big names Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds. I was pretty excited to catch this action movie when I first heard about it a week back. This post will review this upcoming movie Safe House.

Reaching E-Curve to a queue of more than 100 bloggers and Churpers, I could actually feel the excitement. This time, I had my dinner before the queue hence I could just hang around with old friends and new friends while waiting for our movie to kick off at 9.30pm.

Coming back to the movie, Safe House tells the tale of Tobin Frost (Denzel Washington) who plays this really smart ex-CIA who now works for cash and sells national secrets from any nation willing to pay. The action starts right from the start where we see Tobin being hunted down for a very important piece of national information.

We then see a rookie operative agent Matt Weston (Ryan Reynolds) come into the picture, whose daily job for the past 12 months was guarding this empty Safe House located in South Africa. Playing the housekeeper eager to prove himself to the company, Matt sees Tobin being remanded in his safe house temporarily. Temporary because the very next moment, we see gun fights and mercenaries crashing into Matt's safe house killing all the guard around just to get to Tobin.

Feeling it's his responsibility to ensure his house "guest" does not get away, the duo escapes the gunmen under a rain of gunfire, to travel throughout the nation in a dog and cat race. The action in Safe House came fast and furious, with betrayals coming from all sides. It was then that Matt realizes there isn't really anybody he can trust to continue on his task.

There were some moments in Safe House that came off rather lame as in the plot is overused in various other action movies, but I rather like this movie just because these two actors really shone in playing their characters. It was a movie with relentless chasing and running, so if you are into some fast action movies, do keep a look out for the opening of this movie soon in our local cinemas. Personally, I rate this movie a 7/10, for the nice performance, never mind the plot.
