Farlim Coffee Shop Penang

There's this coffee shop within walking distance from my family house in Farlim, Penang that serves local Penang cuisine. In fact there are many coffee shops around the vicinity, but as of now, I didn't get a good look on the name, so we shall just give it a generic "Farlim Coffee Shop Penang" name.

The stall I ordered Sar Hor Fun from, which my friend told me is rather famous in Farlim.

One thing I like about the coffee shops in Penang is that they have the authentic "kopitiam" look and feel. Probably it's because they are the real deal. Penangites don't really need the OldTown or PappaRich franchise to get the coffee shop feel. Penang has so many of these coffee shops that it's no surprise to encounter food every few kilometers travelled.

Coffee Shops everywhere, providing good yet affordable dishes.

Anyway, we were there that night just to get some late night supper. I tried not to go for the fried stuffs, going healthy is the way to go. I wouldn't say what I ordered was healthy, but at least it is soupy dishes and should be way better than the fried mee or fried kuey teow alternative.

Sar Hor Fun - RM3.80
Fish Noodles Soup - RM4.50

Pork Noodles Clear Soup - RM3.50

Our drinks to complete the meal, Iced Milo and Iced Lemon drink.

Overall a good late night supper, one which provided much comfort to our stomachs. The Sar Hor Fun wasn't really as good as I expected, but compared to the ones I have near my place in KL, it tastes much better. As for the other 2 dishes, it was pretty good too. I'm pretty proud of myself too for choosing soups over fried kuey teows which I normally order when I'm back to Penang. Here's to a healthier life!

  11. Yup, I agree, these are the best examples of how a 'kopitiam' is supposed to look like (in Malaysia anyway). XD And some of the best hawker fares are in these kinda places. There are many like these around where I live too, and many of them have been selling for years with generations of regular customers. XD
