Did you know that the Mid-Autumn Festival has been a yearly event in China since the Shang Dynasty and is the second only in importance to the Spring Festival? One of the hallmark traditions of this festival is the mooncakes. The roundness of the mooncake symbolizes togetherness and reunion. The making and sharing of the mooncakes amongst family members during the mid-autumn festival showcases the completeness and the unity of families.

This year, Hilton Petaling Jaya came out with a series of premium boxes themed Oriental delights, offering traditional baked and snow skin mooncakes.
The traditional baked mooncakes which are widely looked forward to includes a collection of nine different flavours to choose from such as White Lotus Paste, White Lotus Paste with Single Yolk, Pandan Paste with Single Yolk, Red Bean Paste with Almond Flakes, Green Tea with Pistachio Nuts, Black Sesame Paste, Pumpkin with Sunflower Seeds, the signature Mixed Five Nuts and Purple Sweet Potato.

Toh Yuen’s Mid-Autumn Reunion Set Dinner
The Toh Yuen’s Mid-Autumn Reunion Set Dinner is also available to be ordered from now until 24th September 2018. I had the chance to savour this traditional Chinese Eight Course Meal, and it is good! We ended our feast of the reunion set with some delectable mooncakes from Hilton Petaling Jaya. These mooncakes are made purchasable at Toh Yuen Restaurant at Hilton Petaling Jaya, One Utama Shopping Mall, and Sunway Velocity Mall. Consumers who are a holder of either CIMB, Citibank, HSBC, Standard Chartered, OCBC or Hong Leong Bank are able to receive a discount of 20% for a box of four mooncakes.

Toh Yuen Restaurant will also be hosting a DIY Mooncake Making Workshop which will take place every Sundays starting 5th August 2018, the first Sunday of the month and ending on 23rd September 2018, the Sunday before Mid-Autumn Festival.
The pricing for the workshop are as follows:
- RM 88 Nett per pax (Takes home a box of 4 mooncakes)
- RM 150 Nett per couple (Takes home two boxes of mooncakes)
- Free Admission for kids ages from 4 to 11 years
