Malaysia Airports KLIA’s Top Restaurants @ Taste MIGF 2018
So there I was at Taste MIGF 2018 this year, savouring all they have to offer. What caught my eye at the spectacular gastronomy extravaganza this year happens to be the space that Malaysia Airports took up in celebration of food. Aptly named “Taste of Malaysia Airports”, Malaysia Airports were there, featuring its top airport cuisines at Taste MIGF 2018.

Malaysia Airports KLIA’s Top Restaurants @ Taste MIGF 2018 |
Together with a bunch of friends, we savoured all that the three featured restaurants, Bumbu Desa, Fukuya and Grandmama’s had to offer. The three featured restaurants – Bumbu Desa, Fukuya and Grandmama’s – showcased some of their most popular dishes that are a hit with travellers at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

Let there be food, lots of it. |

These three restaurants were part of the Top 25 winners from last year’s annual KULinary event – a signature dining discovery campaign hosted by Malaysia Airports that celebrates gastronomic excellence and dining experiences at both terminals of the airport, KLIA main terminal and klia2
Bumbu Desa - Indonesia’s Leading Restaurant Chain

Bumbu Desa |
Did you know Bumbu Desa served up some of the best of Indonesian cuisine, with its signature dishes of Nasi Tumpeng (a special dish made to celebrate important events), Ikan Bawal Taliwang Lombok (pomfret with special Taliwang Lombok sauce) and KopiKita (original Indonesian coffee). We tried some of it, and it was good.

Teh Botol, it actually tastes delicious! |
Ayam Cabai Jio
Initially I wasn’t too keen on the colour of the Ayam Cabai Jio but one bite into the tender chicken thigh and I was in love. Cabai literally translates to spicy chili, so watch out for the really spicy, but flavourful green chilli paste on the juicy chicken. Good stuff.

Kari Kambing
Lamb curries, my all-time favourite, especially if the lamb is done just right, not overly tough. The gravy is thick, with generous portions of succulent lamb pieces.

Rendang Daging
Now the meat inside the Rendang Daging was a tad too tough for my liking, but I guess that’s how its prepared. The aromatic beef flavours really won us over, especially the rending flavours.

Ikan Bawal Taliwang Lombok
If you’re into deep fried fish, then you must try out Bumbu Desa’s Ikan Bawal Taliwang Lombok. Crispy on the outside, I was surprised to find the meat inside to be still very succulent and moist. Yummy, take it with the accompanied chili paste!

Gulai Kikil
Beef tendon, in one big bowl of stew, that’s what you get when you order the Gulai Kikil. The aromatic Indonesian curry really goes well with the generous servings of beef tendon inside.

Fukuya @ KLIA
Fukuya @KLIA is a must-visit restaurant for those who love authentic Japanese cuisine when at the airport. It's only accessible from inside the departure hall, so that makes this restaurant rather exclusive.

Hotate Miso Soup
We tried out the newly created Hotate Miso Soup (miso soup with scallops) which is specially created to celebrate this year’s Taste MIGF event. Love the huge piece of scallop inside the soup. Yum!

Unagi Uramaki & Shake Uramaki
Other best sellers to look out for from Fukuya include Unagi Uramaki (deep fried spicy sea eel roll) and Shake Uramaki (deep fried spicy salmon roll). We tried all three, and they satisfied our stomach to bits!

Grandmama’s
Grandmama’s serves traditional Malaysian flavours that bring back the fond memories of grandmothers cooking in the kitchen. We sampled their Nasi Lemak, which came on a platter complete with fragrant coconut rice served with succulent curry chicken, anchovies, peanuts, boiled egg and superb sambal. A good nasi lemak is as good as its sambal, and here, the sambal was amazing!

Upcoming KULinary Event at KLIA
Did you know, there’s an upcoming KULinary event at KLIA in November to discover the best hidden food gems that are available at both terminals of the airport. What to expect there? Lots of good food, fun activities, and special meal deals for passengers to enjoy. See you there guys!
I'd go for the Indonesian anytime, my kind of cuisine.
ReplyDeleteSeems like a pretty interesting food event happening at the airport... landed and straight away makan! HAHAHA
