An Affordable Boutique Hotel Stay in Malacca

Reaching the hotel after a 2 hour drive from KL, we were excited as it looks to be at a rather good location, a mere 10 minutes drive from Mahkota Parade, and only 5 minutes drive to Jonker Walk. We wanted to visit Jonker Walk that night, hence this was the perfect location to stay at. My first impression upon arrival at Kings Green Hotel was that it looks really clean, and modern. Not bad at all, I thought to myself then.

It’s a 4 star hotel, with complete amenities and facilities including an infinity pool and all. We were warmly welcomed by the staff of the hotel, and while waiting to be checked in, I noticed the lobby ceiling was really high. That’s a good thing, as it gives out a very comfortable and wide ambiance to the whole place.

First Green Building Certified Hotel in Malacca

Opened back in Oct 2013, Kings Green Hotel doesn’t just put the name “green” in their name for fun. They happen to be the first Green Building Index Certified Hotel in Malacca along with certification of Melaka Green Seal award as well as a premise 100% free from smoking under the Blue Ribbon Campaign! Now that’s an awesome feat, with Green Car Park (for Hybrid Vehicle), Rain Water Harvesting, Energy & Water Saving, Recycling effort, Indoor Air Quality, Green Garden and No Smoking facility amongst their hotel “features”.

Environmentally friendly, I wondered if they were “people” friendly too. The family were really pleased with our deluxe room. Bright, colourful, vibrant, these thoughts came to mind the moment we entered our room. Consisting of a Queen bed as well as a super single bed, there were ample space for all.

One good thing about the room was that it had a rather wide balcony, for us to relax and just sit staring at the city.

The bathroom was spacious enough, which even had a bath tub for us to soak in. The bath tub is cool, as can be attested by the two boys. They immediately wanted to jump into the bath tub for a good soaking.

For me, I appreciate the comforts of the bed, firm, comfortable with really nice pillows. We were greeted with cute lovebirds folded from towels on the bed, pretty nice sight.

As would be expected from a boutique hotel, we had the standard facilities which included a hanging closet with iron and ironing board, safe box, mini fridge, complimentary bottled water, coffee, tea, and more. The LCD TV had satellite and local TV channels on.

Did I mention they provide free wireless internet? Upon signing in, I found the internet access to be fast and stable, just what I needed to get things done!

Thumbs up yo!

After a short rest in the room, I went ahead to check out the various facilities around the hotel. There’s the nicely equipped gym and various conference rooms located at various parts of the hotel.

The in-house restaurant, Hibiscus Café served up local and international cuisine, ones which we enjoyed for breakfast the following day. Towards evening, I did check out the beautiful infinity pool, and it has a really nice shape to it. The infinity pool overlooks the city, with children pool included as well.

We had dinner over at Jia Restaurant at the hotel in the evening. Jia Restaurant serves some really nice Chinese Nyonya cuisine, with a really nice oriental ambiance. I will be covering on the dishes and food we had for dinner and lunch the following day in my subsequent blog posts. Why? Because there’s just so many food pictures to cover! Watch out for it!

If you’re up for a chill drink at night after dinner, don’t forget to check out the hotel’s Green Acres Lounge Bar. Serving cocktails with music through the night, the bar takes centerstage, glowing in the middle. The kids sleep, and we adults get to come here for music and maybe even for a dance, or just to relax over some drinks.

Breakfast at Hibiscus Cafe

Up early the following day, it was a beautiful Sunday! We had our buffet breakfast over at Hibiscus Café with a wide range of local and Western breakfast offerings. My favourite nasi lemak was the one I grabbed first, and they have so much more, from Noodle soup, to freshly made omelettes, eggs, sausages, baked beans, toasts and even some Chinese Teochew Porridge.

Checking out was a breeze, no unnecessary delays and what nots. The kids, the mum and wife truly enjoyed our stay over at Kings Green Hotel, City Centre Melaka. If you’re planning a trip to Malacca any time soon, don’t forget to take into account this hotel. Strategic location, so near to major attractions, yet the location itself is not as packed as other tourist spots hotels. Everything is just a short drive away.

Comments

  1. Very nice hotel. I wonder what the room rates are like. How come you never mentioned those? The prices would be the first things people would consider when choosing a hotel.
