Happy 20th Anniversary Nando’s Malaysia!
Well, I wouldn’t have known Nando’s, the iconic brand has been in Malaysia for 20 years already if I wasn't invited to their celebration party the other night! This is cause for celebration, and celebrate they did, holding a rather festive party the other night at Desa Parkcity. I was there to soak in the festivities, and of course to dine in festive joy ontheir yummy flamed-grilled chicken! Read on.

Did you know Nando’s started off at Jalan Telawi 20 years ago, and from then forth it was expansion all the way till now, where they are basically everywhere! If you haven’t tried their famous PERi-PERi sauce yet, you must! Good flamed grilled chicken, doused in their PERi-PERi sauce, that’s the right way to go if you asked me.

Nando’s PERi-PERi Sauce is Good!
Truly passionate about chillies, Nando’s grows its own PERi-PERi chillies with the help of over 1,400 independent farmers in South Africa. Mixing these fiery little wonders with onions, oil, herbs, fresh lemons and a kick of garlic produces the brand’s unparalleled secret weapon, the Nando’s PERi-PERi sauce. At the event the other night, we got to try our hands on mixing up a batch of our own PERi-PERi sauce! It was pretty cool!

Don’t get me started on the extra hot PERi-PERi sauce, it’s just a tad too spicy for me, but from hot to mild , I do love the taste of these sauces. The chickens are marinated in the sauce for 24-hours and then basted with ones choice of heat level ranging from Lemon & Herb to the fiery Extra Hot. We had our fair share of meaty goodness during the event.
At the 20th Anniversary celebration event as well, we had the top brass from Nando’s Malaysia, telling us how they’ve come to be where the brand is at right now.
“We are definitely excited about reaching such a significant milestone here in Malaysia. When we first introduced ourselves, I believe we piqued the interest of chicken lovers out there. We were unique and were offering new flavours to people so it was an intriguing time for everyone. 20 years on and we are still firing up the tastebuds of our amazing fans and hitting a few new-comers as well,” commented Stephen Chew, CEO of Nando’s Malaysia.
