When one hears of sauna, a certain vision of sweaty men in steam filled, stuffy rooms come to mind. I had the chance to experience the latest Sonne Far Infrared (FIR) Sauna last weekend, for a 30 minute session, and it was unexpected to say the least. Sonne FIR Sauna? What’s That?

This technology is definitely new to me. In fact, the only saunas I’ve been to are the ones at gyms, but these Sonne FIR Sauna were of a different breed. You can destress, and even detoxify your body using these. Using radiant heat that warms us without warming the air around, we gain health, wellness and everything good. Each of these Sonne Sauna can be built to fix into our office or homes, even clinics and shops.

My 30-minutes experience in a Sonne Far infrared Sauna

Before my session, to ensure some results can be seen after the sauna, my measurements were taken. All details, my BMI, muscle mass, visceral fat rating (which I failed horribly), metabolic age, weight and height were taken down. Why 30-minutes? Well, we were told it’s the perfect time or rather maximum so that we can get maximum results from the session.

Setting the temperature according to our tolerance, I had mine set to near max at 57 degrees or so. I wanted to sweat! I needed to see those sweat trickle down  The heat did not come immediately, unlike the usual sauna which heats you from outside. In an FIR sauna like Sonne Sauna, it will permeate our skin and heat us from the inside.

In fact, we were encouraged to bring a book inside to read while doing our sauna session. How relaxing! Throughout the session, we were also advised to keep hydrated by drinking water. So did I sweat? Oh yes I did! Bucketloads of it! My back, stomach, shoulder, and upper chest were drenched through.

In fact, after my 30 minutes session, we took another round of measurements and the results were rather positive. Deep detox is the idea, eliminating toxic elements from the body.
