Don't Forget Your PIN Before Travelling

Don't Forget Your PIN Before Travelling!

Planning for that perfect holiday soon? Whether you're travelling alone, with friends, or family, credit and debit cards are always useful for emergency payments, purchases and transactions, especially if you don’t fancy carrying large amounts of cash.

Did you know Malaysian banks and retailers have migrated from signature to PIN as the standard for verifying customers for all card purchases at domestic point of sale?

PIN & PAY is a secure method of payment that uses a PIN or 6-digit secret code, instead of your signature to authorise payment.

As per Bank Negara Malaysia’s mandate, all banks have switched their payment cards from Chip & Sign to Chip & PIN since June 2016 and have embarked on a massive industry-wide campaign to communicate this to their customers. Most local retailers have already migrated to PIN & PAY since 1st January 2017.

Before you leave for your holiday, don’t forget to enable your Visa card’s PIN to avoid the hassle of retailers not accepting your card for your purchases /transactions. This is a friendly reminder, as the PIN & PAY system not only applies to Malaysia, but has been implemented in various other countries.

So for hassle-free domestic or overseas trips, call or visit your nearest local bank, enable your PIN and enjoy smooth payments wherever you go!

How does PIN & PAY work?

It's simple.

Just hand your PIN-enabled Visa card to the cashier who will swipe or insert it in the terminal, wait for the prompt, key in your PIN and press enter. How EASY is that!

Wait no more, if you haven't enabled your PIN yet on your VISA credit card, do it today.  After 1 July 2017, you will no longer be able to use your payment card at a POS terminal if you do not know your PIN ( unless you are using payWave – applicable only for purchases below RM250 ).

Don't get caught out - we all know the perfect holiday is one where we can spend and enjoy ourselves without any hassle or inconvenience!
