Chun Ciou Hot Pot, Authentic Taiwanese Steamboat @ Old Klang Road

The largest premium Taiwanese hot pot restaurant in Malaysia is now in town. Now I've been to Taiwan a couple of years back, and these steamboat shops are really popular there. Hence it's a rather good idea to have one here as well. Introducing Chun Ciou Hot Pot, the first authentic Taiwanese steamboat hotpot buffet in Kuala Lumpur, at Old Klang Road to be exact. I had a taste of what they have to offer last weekend, and my, it was good. Check it out below.

Ambiance and Decor of Chun Ciou Hot Pot

Chun Ciou Hot Pot (春秋战锅) promises us authentic Taiwanese steamboat, originating from Taiwan. Using some of the best ingredients and recipes, similar to the ones you will get if you were to dine in Taiwan, the restaurant itself is HUGE, housed in this stand alone building along Old Klang Road. Inside, it had an imperial palace like ambiance, with decor and even lighting to match.

You don't have to worry about space constraint as the place is really big. Traditional Chinese relics deck the hallways and corridors. Best part of Chun Ciou Hot Pot is the fact that the whole building is air-conditioned. Gone are the days you have to sweat along with the steamboat at open air restaurants. Dine in comfort. All right then, let's move on to the food shall we?

Soup Base

There's a variety of soup base from you to choose from
There's a variety of soup base from you to choose from

The steamboat comes with a wide array of soup base choices. You get to choose two different types of soup for your hot pot. Listed below are the choices you get.

  • 精选汤底 Featured Soup Base
  • 壽喜湯底Sukiyaki Soup
  • 湖盐汤底Lakesalt Soup
  • 高级豚骨汤底 Tonkatsu Soup
  • 蒙古麻辣汤底 Spicy Soup
  • 台湾药膳汤底 Herbal Soup
  • 东炎汤底 Tomyam Soup
That afternoon, we tried their Lake Salt Soup Base and the Sukiyaki Soup Base. The Lake Salt Soup base was more to my liking as it isn't too strong yet tasty enough. If you're one for a stronger soup base, then go for their Sukiyaki Soup Base, which is really suitable for dipping in all that good meat.
