Lovely pastries and bread inside Le Pont Boulangerie |
It's looking a lot like Christmas |
The inspiration behind the beautiful Le Pont's name (French for "The Bridge") comes from their desire to capture their vision of a unique space where people can come together and forge new friendships. Their aspiration is to create a food and beverage concept where food and drink connect seamlessly. I'm impressed with their warm decor, spanning 3 floors, with the ground floor housing their bakery while the upper floors are meant for sit-in dining.
It feels like Christmas already |
Themed "Novel Noel", their Christmas campaign promotion runs from 23rd November 2015 to 4th January 2015, featuring a ravishing selection of timeless Christmas flavour infused with a touch of contemporary flair. From main courses to desserts and drinks, each segment of the seasonal menu is lovingly crafted by the award-winning culinary trio behind this chic patisserie cum cafe - Chef de cuisine Daniel Wong, Pastry Chef Padzli and Head of Coffee David Leong.
Frisee & Beef Bacon Salad - RM16.90 |
Vichyssoise - RM12.90 |
For starters, we took our pick from the Frisee & Beef Bacon Salad which consists of beef bacon strips tossed with Frisee, egg confit, shaved mushrooms and honey mustard dressing, and the Vichyssoise, a classic French potato & leek soup complemented with garlic croutons. Love how the bacon strips go well the generous egg confit in the salad. In fact it did not feel like having salad at all, but rather a tasty starter dish. The soup was good too, especially with those crunchy garlic croutons floating inside.
Both dishes are intended as simple, heart-warming dishes that will rekindle fond memories and serve as comfort food.
Seafood Red Rhapsody - RM38 |
The main course, on the other hand is meant to be shared. Named the Seafood Red Rhapsody, it is bouillabaisse, a traditional French seafood stew renowned for its hearty red hue. This sumptuous dish comes brimming with razor clams, seabass and prawns for a rich medley of flavours that we love. Served with a side of garlic toast, seafood lovers must try this dish.
Throughout the promotion period, these three dishes (Frisee & Beef Bacon Salad, Vichyssoise and Seafood Red Rhapsody) is made available as a combo set for only RM58.90 instead of the normal price of RM64.70.
Christmas Tree Waffle - RM17.90 |
Molten Snowman - RM19.90 |
Delectable desserts ensued. One of the highlights of the Novel Noel menu lies in its tantalizing offering of Christmas-themed desserts. Diners with a sweet tooth will be spoilt with the Christmas Tree Waffle which came in this cute green hue, specialty jade waffles with homemade raspberry sorbet, almond crumble, diced strawberry and fresh whipped cream). We tried the very sweet and sinfully delicious Molten Snowman too, with the feuilletine topping and vanilla ice cream giving the final touches atop the molten chocolate cake.
Snowy Wonderland - RM20.90 |
Pouring on the hot chocolate |
Melted away to reveal a surprise centre |
The Snowy Wonderland is a wonderful showcase of a dessert. The dark chocolate ganache ball is filled with a surprise centre of homemade honey ice cream, strawberry and blueberry, paired with a sprinkle of snow meringue and velvety chocolate sauce. Love how the dessert is prepared, with hot chocolate being poured unto the ball in front of you, melting a hole in the middle to reveal its treasures inside. Good stuff.
Orange Cinnamon Bliss - RM14.50 |
Cinnamon Affogato - RM14.50 |
Last but not least, we were served with two unique drinks, a must-try for coffee lovers, the Orange Cinnamon Bliss (house coffee served with orange cinnamon ice cubes and soda on the side) and Cinnamon Affogato (signature espresso paired with cinnamon ice cream). Note that the cinnamon flavoured ice cream is unique in its own right. Both are creations inspired by the classic flavours of cinnamon and crafted with Le Pont's signature bridging blend which is directly traded coffee sourced by in-house master baristas.
Salad Nicoise - RM16.90 |
Le Pont's Special Lamb Shank - RM37.90 |
Apart from the Christmas menu, diners can also indulge in other favourites from Le Pont Boulangeri's regular menu. Not to be missed, their Salad Nicoise, the classic french salad with french beans, tuna, chopped egg, and shallot vinegrette. The Le Pont's Special Lamb Shank is also a crowd favourite, braised in house-made apricot sauce and served with potatoes, roasted peppers and asparagus.
Classic favourites, inventive new touches, do drop by Le Pont Boulangerie to savour the wonders of Christmas (Le Pont's Novel Noel), reimagined through the eyes of award-winning chefs and top notch baristas. Oh, they make delicious pastries and bread too!
