Melaka Alive - Melaka Night Cultural Performance

A night cultural performance portraying the history of Melaka amidst sights, sound, lights and even water. I had the chance to catch Melaka Alive a couple of weeks back when I was in Melaka for The Shore Shopping Gallery Malacca Grand Opening and it was a whole new experience in itself. History literally comes alive every night here!

Boasting a new concept in historical rich Melaka, Neuvo Attraction & Destination Sdn Bhd aims to combine elements of theatre and history against a sophisticated technology laden background to transport visitors back into the Golden Ages via Melaka Alive.

Set on board a ship inspired stage, this extravaganza tale of Panglima Awang is brought to life in a play combines spectacular visuals, effects, music and live acting to tell the story of Melaka’s rich and diverse history, from the establishment of the city by its founder Parameswara to its fall at the hands of the Portuguese.

Arriving at the venue past 10pm, the ship that was to be the venue for Melaka Alive seems really inviting with its lights and sound. The show itself is a combination of water jet sprays which acts like a curtain for lights and projections to be projected onto it. Those sitting in the 'wet area' front row are advised to wear a rain coat, as you will definately get wet from the water showers.

Melaka Alive didn't just end with grace, it ended spectacularly with showers of water, and fire thrown in for good effect. There are two parts to the Melaka Alive Cultural Performance, indoor where you will experience the 5D effects, and outdoor just before the spectacular water show ending. The show is conducted throughout in English, with booming voiceovers from the speakers all over.
