HP Malaysia today announced the new ultra-portable HP Pavilion x2 detachable PC. I had the opportunity to attend the soft launch, getting a chance to handle the beautiful tech myself. Designed for customers who want to simplify their life with a single device that transforms from tablet to laptops, it is indeed a thing of beauty, where form meets factor, packing a cool Intel Atom processor Z3745D (1.33Ghz, 2M L2 Cache) inside.

The HP Pavilion x2, is a full featured 10-inch diagonal Windows tablet that shifts to a full-featured laptop with a detachable dual-purpose keyboard / cover that both protects the screen and serves as a multi-position stand. Check out some of the photos I managed to capture of the product at the launch below.

Portable, versatile 2 in 1 PC, the HP Pavilion x2 is powered by the latest generation Intel Atom processor, featuring front-firing speakers with DTS sound and a battery that lasts up to a quoted 11.45 hours. Now that is a pretty long lasting battery, perfect for the road warrior.

The HP Pavilion x2 runs on Microsoft Windows 8.1 with a beautiful screen display (WLED-backlit WXGA Touchscreen) when turned on. At the side of the unit, it had the usual I/O ports, 1x USB 3.0, 1x Micro USB 2.0, 1x HDMI and a headphone out/microphone in combo jac. Not exactly very generous with ports, but this is to be expected from ultraportables in this range.

At the soft launch event, attended by media and bloggers, we not only got to touch and experience the HP Pavilion x2 for ourselves, 2 lucky winners got to walk away with one free unit each courtesy of HP Malaysia. I wasn't too lucky though, but congratulations to Tian Chad for being one of the winners. Now I'm jealous because he gets to own the latest piece of tech from HP!

With features and so many tech packed into the little package, the HP Pavilion x2 surprisingly did not come at a heft price tag. I was amazed at the retail price when it was annouced. The HP Pavilion x2 is available in Malaysia beginning 3rd November 2014, for a starting price of RM1,199. Yes you read it right, only RM1,199 to purchase this baby, so what are you waiting for?
