Pretz N' Beanz Cafe Solaris Mont Kiara

With the upcoming #cafehoppingmalaysia campaign coming up soon from 1st November 2014, I've been tasked to review all the merchants involved with this awesome campaign. Pretz N' Beanz, formerly Chilla Cup opened its doors to diners and coffee lovers alike recently at Solaris Mont Kiara. I was there the other night to try out their delectable pretzel, coffee and many more dishes.

Now I've been to Chilla Cup before and love their pretzels, with the birth of Pretz N' Beans, they have taken it a step further and introduced their Pretzel Pizzas. Yes, you heard that right, pizzas which are basically made from a base of pretzel dough, ensuring its both soft and fluffy with pizza toppings! Check out what we had that night below.

Chicken Hawaiian Pretzel Pizza - RM14.90 (small), RM20.90 (large)
Chicken Hawaiian Pretzel Pizza - RM14.90 (small), RM20.90 (large)

An interesting mix of pretzel and pizza, giving us the best of both worlds. The crust itself isn't very much different from any pizza, but the moment you bite into it, you will immediately appreciate the softness inside. This signature dish of theirs, Chicken Hawaiian Pretzel Pizza is prepared fresh daily was not too oily. With a generous serving of toppings on the top, this ranks as a must try dish from Pretz N' Beanz.

Basil Cheese Pretzel - RM6.90

Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel - RM5.90

Of course, coming to Pretz N' Beanz means you must try their pretzels. They had a variety of pretzels, from the plain ones, to filled ones and a whole lot in between. Shown above are two of their varieties, the Basil Cheese Pretzel, and the Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel. Both were different yet very much alike in terms of the texture and structure. The flavour is one that sets it apart with the Basil Cheese being more savoury, while the Cinnamon Sugar had a sweet taste.

Apple Cinnamon Filled Pretzel - RM10.90
Apple Cinnamon Filled Pretzel - RM10.90

The Apple Cinnamon Filled Pretzel sort of reminded me of an apple pie, except it's inside a pretzel. Pretz N' Beanz serves some of the very unique flavours, which taste good actually. I especially liked this filled pretzels as it added texture and flavour to an otherwise plain dish. The apple cinnamon filling came piping hot, and its recommended to have it immediately before it gets cold.

Sweet Potato Filled Pretzel - RM10.90

An interesting mix, initially I thought the Sweet Potato Filled Pretzel will taste very 'potato' like, but the sweetness really blends in with the pretzel. Best eaten while it's hot, you can taste the natural sweetness of the sweet potato with the melted cheese with every bite. I learnt that sweet potato and cheese can go very well together that evening.

Caramel Macchiato - RM13.90

Caffe Latte - RM11

An intermission between dishes is in order, as we were served with Pretz N' Beanz blend of coffee, namely the Caramel Macchiato and Caffe Latte. Not unlike most cafes out there, they do serve some very decent coffee, with the beans purchased on a weekly cycle to ensure that they get supplies which are freshly roasted. You can taste it in the coffee and with every whiff you can actually smell the fragrance.

Flavoured lattes were available too, with a choice of caramel, hazelnut or vanilla latte. With the boom of a healthy society, more and more people look out for healthy drinks, hence the introduction of these healthy juices by Pretz N' Beanz. We had the 'Wake Up', 'Keep Fit' and 'Super Charge' juices which had a blend of different types of fruits ranging from oranges, carrots, celeries, cucumbers, lemon and watermelons. Try them, they taste as healthy as they look.

Caramel Butter Thick Toast - RM13.90
Caramel Butter Thick Toast - RM13.90

If you like toast, then do try out their Caramel Butter Thick Toast. Lightly toasted thick bread, with butter, the fragrance and sweetness of the butter does make you want to have more than your fair share of this dish. It goes well with coffee too, but I would have preferred with a tad less cream on the top.

Spicy Seafood Pasta - RM24.90

Aglio Olio Prawn Pasta - RM24.90

On top of pretzels and coffee, Pretz N' Beanz have some very delicious pastas on their menu. Shown above is two of their hot sellers, the Spicy Seafood Pasta and Aglio Olio Prawn Pasta. Be careful when ordering the Spicy Seafood Pasta as it can get a little too spicy for comfort. I love spicy food though, so it fit my tastebuds perfectly. The dish had a hint of sambal too, reminiscent of a local Malaysian cuisine. The Aglio Olio Prawn Pasta was good too, albeit being a tad wetter than I would have liked it to be.

Dory Fish with Sour Cream Pasta - RM19.90

Another pasta dish, the Dory Fish with Sour Cream Pasta had a unique sour cream taste to it, one which I'm not very used to but it does have its own unique flavour. The dory fish was fresh, albeit a tad too had on the outside crust.

Royale Salmon Egg Benedict - RM22.90

Country Ham Egg Benedict - RM18.90
Country Ham Egg Benedict - RM18.90

Egg benedict lovers must try out Pretz N' Beanz' offerings. We had their Royale Salmon Egg Benedict and Country Ham Egg Benedict that evening and it was good. The eggs came out perfect, being watery and running inside while having a steady form while being served. I preferred the country ham one as I'm not much of a salmon lover.

Overall it was a good meal out at Pretz N' Beanz Cafe Solaris Mont Kiara, which to me is a great spot to dine and have your favourite cup of coffee on the side. It's not your usual coffee spot, where full dishes are being whipped up and served from the kitchen fresh and hot. Do drop by if you're in the vicinity.
