Sony Alpha 5000 Bloggers Gathering @ Carcosa Seri Negara

Sony Malaysia just launched their latest Sony Alpha 5000 digital camera, officially launched yesterday to be exact. Touted to be the world’s lightest interchangeable-lens digital camera with built in Wi-Fi and NFC, I was delighted to be invited for the Sony Alpha 5000 Bloggers Gathering at Carcosa Seri Negara last week for a first hand look and feel of this new camera.

Sony Alpha 5000 Bloggers Gathering
Venue: Carcosa Seri Negara
Date: 15 February 2014

The world’s lightest interchangeable lens digital camera, with built in Wi-Fi and NFC punches far above its weight when it comes to beautiful pictures and creative control. Packing a large 20.1 effective megapixel Exmor™ APS HD CMOS sensor and BIONZ X™ processor, the Alpha 5000 produces exquisite images, despite its small size.

Reaching the rather sweet venue, where just next door there was a garden wedding being held, we were warmly welcomed by Sony Malaysia's staff. It was a surprise to be presented with one Sony Alpha 5000 camera each to play and explore with throughout the 2 hour gathering. I was impressed with it's weight from the word go, and further impressed by its features and functions further on throughout the day.

A quick welcoming speech was given by the Managing Director of Sony Malaysia, Mr Kikuo Okura San followed by the Sony Alpha 5000 product introduction. Going through the slides were impressive enough, but what ensued was even better, especially when we were given a free hand to snap as many photos as we like at the venue to compete in a short photography contest. Winner will walk away with one free Sony Alpha 5000!

Before continuing on, do note this post will only be a coverage on the event, while the more comprehensive Sony Alpha 5000 digital camera review will be up later. Yes, I'm currently still holding on to the camera, using it for my various food reviews, and events around town.
