A Romantic Vacation At Philea Resort & Spa Melaka

The last time I stayed over at this very romantic resort was a couple of years back, (Philea Resort & Spa Melaka ) where I had an awesome experience even though it was only one to a room. This time around, thanks to Merryn and the good folks from Philea Resort & Spa, I had the opportunity to experience their 'Romantic Vacation Package', a few notch above the usual room packages available. Read on below on my experience with the family over the weekend.

Upon arrival at Philea Resort & Spa Melaka, even before entering our rooms, I was already impressed with the grand structure, and the lush greenery where each of the rooms were in these beautiful wood cabin structures. It felt serene, especially when we took the walk towards our room. This time around, Janice and Baby Martin were with me for the weekend, hence it was the perfect first family getaway for us.

The last time I was here, the room I stayed in wasn't this luxurious, probably because this time around we were offered to stay in their Philea romantic suite, with all the decor set in place for a romantic night. Just check out those rose petals, and two 'love swans' placed on the bed. We were truly impressed with the setup.

Upon entering the room, I took a glance around, and it was a good sight indeed. A large screen television greeted my eyes, something which I always look out for, as I'm a TV person. There was free wifi for all guests as well, so I could actually finish some of my work on my laptop connected to the internet at the table beside the TV.

Janice walked to the back of the huge suite and found out to our delight that there was a big bath tub in the bathroom. It wasn't just any bath tub mind you, it had this oval shape and looked like one of those bath tubs I have seen only in movies. What's more, the bath tub was filled with more of that rose petals we see literally everywhere in the room. I thought that was a very nice touch. Come to think of it, I think this is what they call 'mandi bunga'.

Guess who got to enjoy the bath tub first? Even before I got to jump in and enjoy a serene relaxed bath, Janice decided it was Baby Martin's bath time, and he got to be the first into the oversized tub. Check out a few photos I managed to snap of him enjoying his warm bath. It was a bit tough stopping him from grabbing those rose petals and putting it into his mouth though.

Before we arrived, I have told the good folks from Philea Resort that baby Martin would be tagging along. It was with great pleasure that I found out they have prepared a very large and comfortable baby cot which can double up as a play pen for Baby Martin. Not many hotels go to such great lengths, so it was really nice of them to have prepared the cot.

It did not take long for us to get comfortable, while I joined some of the activities planned out by Philea's team. The fun activities will be in a separate post though, as this post will focus mainly on the Philea Romantic Vacation package, and how we experienced it first hand.

We were told there will be a romantic candle-lit dinner planned out at night at the privacy of our own suite, with a personal butler serving each room individually. We waited with anticipation for the moment to arrive, as I really couldn't imagine the feeling of having a candle light dinner while being served like royalties just outside our rooms.

When night came, we were seated comfortably at the table just outside our Philea suite room, all ready to enjoy the dinner. It was a really nice touch for us to be served by individual butlers, going through a three course dinner meal which included appetizers, mains, and some really nice desserts. The lighted candle helped set the mood for a really romantic night out. Check out below on some of the nice food we were served with that night.

It was a choice of the chicken or the fish for the mains, both which tasted really good albeit in a slightly small portion. The Roulade Leg of Chicken Stuffing Farce accompanied by Baked Creamy Pumpkin Cannelloni and Herbs Pimentos Sauce was pretty good, tender and tasty. They used both chicken thigh and breast meat for this dish, both weren't hard and went really well with the sauce provided.

The The Pan Seared Atlantic White Cod Fillet with Vegetables and Ratatouille Saffron Foam Reduction was Janice's choice and favourite as well. I did try out the white cod, while being apprehensive initially because it is not easy to prepare cod fish dishes as it has to be really fresh, this dish turned out good. The cod fish flaked nicely, no stickiness, and had that natural sweet taste, without being too fishy.

The Sweet Desserts.

When desserts were served, we weren't really very full yet, but the moment we were done with these really sweet desserts, our stomach was stuffed with pleasure. We had the warm chocolate volcano, the glutinous layer screw pine essence, layer tiramisu, and apple pie, all sweet, all good.
