Maxis 4G Bloggers Blaze Challenge 2013

It was a day of fun, with lots of driving and running around all over KL. Maxis held their 4G Bloggers Blaze Challenge 2013 last weekend, participated by 40 over bloggers hand picked to play out the treasure hunt type of games. I had the opportunity to participate this time around, being excited yet apprehensive as I didn't know what to expect in the race.

Date: 8 December 2013
Venue: The Curve PJ
Time: 8.30am - 2pm

Arriving at the centre square of The Curve rather early on a Sunday morning, we were quickly paired up into teams of four, with a total of 10 teams to take up the Maxis 4G Bloggers Blaze challenge. My team had a rather cool name, Team Cheetah, which consisted of Ben Ashaari, Povy, Heidi, and myself. A quick glance around the area, and I was pretty pleased to see a lot of familiar faces.

Congregating at the square, each team was given an LTE/4G enabled device, in our case it was the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. I must say the speed was really fast, especially when accessing and uploading the scores and printscreens needed to the internet throughout the course of our challenge. 10 cars were provided for us to head to our destination, as dictated by the clues after each challenge.

Now I did bring my camera along, unfortunately as most of the challenges require deep concentration and focus, I missed out on quite a number of key pictures. Nevertheless I will be narrating out the whole experience. At around 9.30pm, all teams were already allocated their first device and were all ready to start the first challenge. Challenge #1 of the Maxis 4G Bloggers Blaze Challenge 2013 was to use the QR Code Scanner on our given device to scan the "passing" balloon codes, before proceeding to drive away in our chosen cars.

Upon grabbing the correct balloon, with the right passing QR code shown on our given 4G enabled device, we proceeded to run to our chosen car, a Proton Preve. Our next destination would be Challenge #2 at the MadMonkeyz Rock Climbing Gym in Wangsa Maju. Being located where I live, I took it up to be the driver and whisked my team safely to the venue.

Rock climbing?! The moment I heard these two words, I sighed, as I knew my fitness level may most likely never get me past this challenge. The anticipation while waiting for the other team who arrived before us to finish their rock climbing task was just too much for me. When my turn finally came, I did try my best, finishing more than three quarters of the way before I went tumbling down the wall. Fortunately, Ben Ashaari was so fit that he completed my part for me.

The next venue for challenge #3 and #4 was at Sunway Lagoon. Both of which I was too excited that I forgot to snap photos. Challenge #3 was a rather simple one, where we just had to play a car racing game on the given device. What surprised was how fast it took for us to download that game into our device. Maxis 4G definately shines in this aspect. Our highest scores were tabulated, which brings us to the next challenge.

Up next was the Go Kart Challenge, being Challenge #4 on the Maxis 4G Bloggers Blaze Challenge 2013. I can't start to tell you how tired I was that day, as we ran from one location to the next. Run, not walk, as the adrenaline rush took over. The Go Kart venue was at the other end of Sunway Lagoon, and my team ran all the way there and back. It wasn't my first time racing the Go Kart at Sunway Lagoon, hence I sort of knew what to expect. This time it was a bit different though, as we would be carrying a pillion rider, meaning 2 to one cart. Everything went smoothly though, and upon completion of Challenge #4 we then drove back to the starting point at The Curve.

Fancy a watermelon? Then you would love this final challenge that greeted us when we reached back to The Curve. Challenge #5 was pretty simple, to finish up a big chunk of watermelon, the quickest team to complete wins. Simple? Not quite, not when you see how big those chunks of watermelon was. Imagine having all that watermelon bits and juices inside you, I don't think I will be ordering any watermelon juices anytime soon.

Overall, it was a very good day out, one which requires one to be mentally and physically prepared, as the journey took us from Damansara, to Wangsa Maju, Sunway, and back again to Damansara. I regret not exercising and have since decided to do some exercise after this. Congratulations to the two best teams that day, as they walked away with really cool prizes. What were the prizes? I'll tell you after the two photos below.

Only two teams got to walk away with prizes from Maxis, while the rest of us mere mortals watch on as we contemplate our revenge in the next Maxis 4G Bloggers Blaze Challenge. So what did they win? Well, every member of the runner up team, Team Leopard got to walk away with a brand new iPad Mini and Maxis LTE Wifi device. The winners had it better, as each members of Team Stallion went home with a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and the Maxis LTE Wifi device each. Here's a big thank you shoutout to Maxis for organizing such a cool challenge for us bloggers, and here's to the next one!
