Gartien Pineapple Cake To Celebrate The Mid Autumn Festival

It's that time of year again, where we see mooncakes being sold everywhere because of the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival. In fact, it's today, so here's wishing you a Happy Mid-Autumn Festival. The purpose of today's post is for a short review on this yummy Gartien Pineapple Cake given to me a couple of weeks back.

"Gartien created it’s own recipe for the pineapple cake using the freshest local pineapples and the best ingredients for the shortbread pastry. Everything in each cake is made from scratch, from the filling to the crust. All ingredients used to make this ‘little piece of Penang’  natural and without any added preservatives."

Coming from Penang, with a tagline that reads "A Little Piece Of Penang", the brief information I got about the pineapple cake was that the new limited edition packaging was designed by Penang based artist Ms Li Jynn. I have to say the beautiful packaging itself made a pretty nice gift.

Gartien's Pineapple Cake was a refreshing change from our usual staple of moon cakes this Mid Autumn Festival. Having my fair share of moon cakes, I relished the chance to munch into these moist sweet pastry. Check out a close up shot of the pineapple cake below.

So what's my take on Gartien Pineapple Cake? This shortbread pastry will definately satisfy any cravings you have for sweet pineapples as the flavour is rather strong once the packaging is opened. Made from local pineapples, each of the pineapple cake was individually packed to retain its freshness. Crumbling under my touch, and in my mouth, I did enjoy the taste and texture of the pineapple cake.

It is still not too late to enjoy Gartien's Pineapple Cake, today being the last day they're on sale at various major shopping malls and cafes in Penang. Of course, they are always available at their outlet in Lorong Macalister Penang. Check them out at the locations below.
