Ramadhan Buffet Preview @ Tonka Bean Cafe Impiana Hotel KLCC

As Ramadhan approaches, more and more restaurants are having their buffet preview. I had the opportunity to dine at Tonka Bean Cafe in Impiana Hotel KLCC last night, and it was a pleasant affair. I must say, for a preview buffet dinner, they did not hold back on the variety of dishes offered. We were spoilt for choice last night.

The theme for the buffet this year is "Santapan Ramadan", where Tonka Bean Cafe will be offering a special price of RM108++ per person for the period from 10th July 2013 until 11th August 2013. Children at the age of 6 to 12 and senior citizen above 55 years of age are charged at RM54++ per person.

Children below the age of six will be privileged to dine for free. On the first and last three days of Ramadan, diners will enjoy a special offer of RM98++ per person. The Ramadan buffet starts from 6.30pm to 10pm.

Arriving at the hotel just in time for the buffet to start, where everything was already laid out beautifully for us to dig in. We had so many choices to choose from that evening ranging from fresh oysters, crabs to acar timun and lots of satays.

Never one to turn down an offer to have some mouthwatering satays, it was the first dish I "attacked" that evening. Juicy enough, it did whet my appetite for more dishes. Walking around the cafe, we had food almost everywhere, which was a good thing as Tonka Bean Cafe Impiana Hotel KLCC had everything for everyone. Just check out some of the main dishes laid out below.

Not being a fan of raw or seafood which were close to being raw and on ice, I skipped the fresh mussels on ice, prawns and crabs. I am more of a "fried and grilled food" type of person. It does look colourful and good though.

Another staple dish for almost every Ramadhan buffet would be the prized grilled lamb, shown in whole, and carved by the chef for our consumption. It does go well with the sauces and condiments, without having the heavy lamb aftertaste. It was good though, as I went for seconds at the "lamb" table.

Assorted main dishes, ranging from fish, curries, to deep fried prawns and beef

From the collage of photos above, you would have thought it was more than enough to fill our stomach. With all that good food, it was a wonder how my stomach could take in more of the cakes and desserts after that. I do surprise myself sometimes. Check out some of the cakes and desserts offered by Tonka Bean Cafe Impiana Hotel's Ramadhan Buffet Preview below.

Ample desserts were available for those with a craving of sweet stuff, including 18 flavours of Baskin Robbins ice creams, gula sago melaka, cream caramel, and even a sweet chocolate fountain with condiments. Feasting on the desserts alone may just be enough to fill my whole stomach for the night, so approach with caution, and do not overeat.

The Baskin Robbins ice cream and Chocolate "fondue" Fountain succeeded in awaking the kid in me, as I happily went for scoops after scoops of my favourite ice cream. It was a good ending to a nice meal, with local farm fruits to be enjoyed last with the ice creams.

So I was told, during the actual Ramadhan dinner buffet, guests will be entertained by a seven-piece traditional Ghazal live band with vocalist consisting of Gendang and Gambus. The melody from this two piece band is bound to sooth and relax the diners.
