Ramadhan Buffet Preview @ Checkers Cafe Dorsett Regency Kuala Lumpur
The last time I had the opportunity to dine here was back in 2012 (East & West Buffet @ Checkers Cafe Dorsett Regency), so it was with pleasure that I got to check out the "Jom Berbuka Puasa Bersama Masterchef Dorsett" at Dorsett Regency Kuala Lumpur. This coming Ramadhan, break fast in style with them at Checkers Cafe.

The interior and buffet spread at Checkers Cafe |
Arriving at Checkers Cafe in Dorsett Regency Kuala Lumpur after braving a short jam around the area, it was indeed a nice sight, with so much choices of food ranging from international fare, to japanese, to the staple traditional Malay cuisine expected from a Ramadhan buffet.
The first thing I took from the moment Go. Satays galore |
As with any buffet recently, I've taken a deep liking for satays, and have been hitting it the moment the buffet starts. Thankfully here at Dorsett Regency they have up to three types of satay, namely the chicken, beef and lamb satay. I did like the lamb ones as it had that nice texture without being too hard. Goes really well with some cucumbers, onions and the satay peanut sauce.

We have a whole piece of roasted lamb here |
If you're a lamb lover, then you'll love the whole roasted lamb, or popularly known as Kambing Panggang "Kuzi" Style. This will be provided nightly come Ramadhan, and it is indeed delicious, soft and moist going well with the accompanying mint sauce.

Goreng Pisang, Cempedak, and Labu Goreng Bermadu |
One of the unique offerings from the buffet selections was the frying station where the staffs actually fried your favourite goreng pisang, cempedak and Labu Goreng Bermadu on the spot, ensuring its crispiness and freshness.

Fresh salmon sashimi laid out for us to "nom" |
Before getting into the traditional Malay cuisine, it was also interesting to note that Dorsett Regency offered a Japanese station, where various sushis, and sashimis were laid out for the diners. Japanese food lovers will be delighted to see this.

Fried stuff, curry, and vegetables laid out on the buffet spread |
We were indeed spoilt for choice, as diners were offered a sumptuous buffet of traditional Malays cuisine specially prepared by Chef Badrol Hisham Shaari, Chef Faizal, Chef Suliman, Chef Badrul Hisham Ali, and Chef Shikin, popularly known as Mak Ikin.
Lovely crabs |
A combination of the ulam, Nasi kerabu, and deep fried fish |
I was told this was their famous Sup Rusa Dorsett Regency |
If the mains weren't enough to satisfy your cravings, then be sure to check out Dorsett Regency's dessert corner. I wouldn't call it a corner though, as there were so many types of desserts available, from cakes, to nyonya kuihs, to the sweet chocolate fountain, and lots of different puluts. I was intrigued with the Bubur Durian as they used a lot of real durians inside.
