Coriander Leaf Restaurant @ Northpoint Midvalley Megamall

Coriander Leaf Cafe is this unassuming eatery located in a spot opposite Midvalley Megamall which I rarely had the chance to frequent to. In fact, last week when I was invited to dine there with friends, I realize it was my first time actually walking over the pedestrian bridge to Northpoint Office building where the cafe was at.

Some notes on the Northpoint Office Suite @ Mid Valley City

Strategically located at the north bound of Mid Valley City, the two blocks of Northpoint office buildings is bridge-linked to Mid Valley Megamall and Boulevard Hotel. It is also conveniently located next to KTM Commuter station in Mid Valley City, which connects the development to KL Sentral station.

The location was articulated to me by a friend, and this was exactly what she mentioned. By following these instructions, you should be able to find your way to Coriander Leaf Restaurant without much trouble.

How to get there:
  • Coming from Midvalley (If you parked at Gardens, head to Midvalley), go towards Northpoint (away from GSC side), First Floor.
  • Nearing the end, you'll see F.O.S. Kids & Teens on your left, a makan place in the middle, and ATM on the right.
  • Walk towards the left side exiting to a pedestrian bridge. (Right will head to KTM station instead)
  • After crossing the pedestrian bridge, turn left and you will see the restaurant on your right, beside a Japanese language learning centre.

Arriving at the restaurant just in time for dinner, the moment I entered I felt quite at ease almost immediately. Probably its due to the coziness of the settings, reminiscent of those old type coffee shops complete with interesting old fashioned lights and marble tables with wooden chairs. Glancing at the menu, Coriander Leaf Restaurant served mostly Malaysian local fare, with some western fusion.

It was pretty interesting to note, in staying true to the theme of the restaurant, Coriander Leaf Cafe had these old-type small Coca Cola bottles which I haven't seen for a long time. It was indeed nice to just hold it in your hands while munching on the peanuts given as appetizers. Check out what we had that evening below.

#2 Marmite Fish - RM8.90

Now these two dishes were one of my favourite at Coriander Leaf Restaurant, hence I chose to put these photographs first. The Honey Chicken tasted good, with the sweet honey applied evenly on the deep fried chicken wings. As for the Marmite Fish, I always feel any dish served with a good dose of Marmite is bound to be yummy.

Another one of Coriander Leaf Restaurant's specialty were their unique Chicken Chop set. Served with a choice of either Black Pepper Sauce, Sweet and Sour Sauce, Nyonya Sauce or Mushroom Cheese toppings, the chicken meat was tender enough to enjoy with the accompanying fries. Subsequent dishes below would be their local Malaysian fare as standalone main meals.

Trying out their noodles and meehon in the form of their Singapore Meehoon and the Penang Fried Kuey Teow, I must say I prefer the meehoon to the kuey teow. Hailing from Penang, I guess I have tuned myself to the taste of Penang's fried kuey teow and anything less doesn't quite sit nicely with my tastebuds. The Kam Heong Fried rice had a fragrant spicy flavour to it.

All the chicken, fish and prawn dishes came with the accompanying bowl of rice. The Salted Egg Fish was the crowd favourite, as it catered to everybody's taste buds and had only positive feedbacks. I wouldn't mind having another plate of that salted egg fish dish. As for the Butter Chicken and Curry Kapitan Chicken dish, it was good, but nothing too major to gush about. The serving portions were large enough for a big eater, but I think for the price, it was an appropriately sized.

Well, we ended the meal with a rather positive note. Filled to the brim with good food, I was told they were really popular with the lunch crowd. Coriander Leaf Restaurant wasn't exactly near to Midvalley Megamall, but is just a walk away, so do give them a try should you be in the vicinity.

  2. Yeah, it is located at an unusual location, not much foot traffic, unless you actually work in MV.

I go to MV pretty often but don't go to the Northpoint side.

The food looks good and it's affordable too! I bet people who works around those parts would know this place. I would eat here if I work in MV. :D

  7. The restaurant is located inside a stand-alone, eye shaped (top view), beautiful full glass building in an office complex. Ambiance is good & it is a good place to catch up with friends, family.
